I just got doing this on a 2005 Mazda6. the three bolts that hold the bracket are not very tight but they are difficult to get to. they are 14mm. one of them is easily accessible with a long extension and rachet, one can only be reached with a short socket and rachet, and you can't reach it from underneath, your going to have to reach it from the side of the vehicle. the last one is the hardest, because the control arm is right under the bolt and there is no room for a normal socket. what I did was cut a 14mm short socket even shorter with a cut off wheel. just enough to be able to get it in there straight. I had to use a swivel extension. (they sell sets at harborfreight for cheap) as far as the lower bolt, your going to either have to cut it with a cut off wheel. I used a acetylene torch to heat them up and get them off. I don't think a small propane torch will work. just a heads up! this is a hard job, it is possible but it's not going to be easy. I had access to an impact gun, a torch kit and many swivel rachets and extensions and it was still a pain. took me all day. if you got the time and patience go for it but if you don't, stay away from this job.

chrisvill54 an offset 14mm wrench is what you needed. I do not think this is a hard job if you have the tools and patience. Don't get too discouraged if you are considering doing this.
@chrisvill547 жыл бұрын
Brandon G oh yeah the 14mm off set wrench would have worked, oh well I got it with a modified socket. It's definitely doable but I'm just making sure people understand that this not for everyone. it's going to require lots of patience and time.

I see where you are coming from. I thought the strut replacement was a piece of cake compared to the rest of the cars suspension. I replaced my entire suspension. had no issues what so ever with the rear struts with the right tools. The right tools go a long way. I had a lot more trouble with other parts of the car's suspension replacement
@chrisvill547 жыл бұрын
Brandon G lol yeah tell me about it. I did the front shocks also and it was a piece of cake compared to the rear ones. I also did the two lower control arms and boy was that a pain. me and you are different than most people. we don't mind getting dirty and spending hours wrestling with old bolts and nuts. but most people can't get through this and rather pay to get it done, rather than spending their weekend doing this.

Got a question here. There's a hook on the bracket there, what does it do? My mechanic removed it after it annoyed him and i have been worried since then
@b_gumm Жыл бұрын
Yea removing that hook was a mistake. I do not believe it is used for structural support though. There are 3 14mm bolts holding to frame still. That hook is an alignment point j believe. It's helpful during install I believe but not needed. Get a new mechanic. He should have had no problem. I did this at age 19 with 0 experience

Do you have any tips on installation in terms of rotating the mount back into place?
@b_gumm5 жыл бұрын
Rotating it back in place is kinda trial and error from what I remember. Best bet is to Look at the time stamps in the description and watch how I remove it. - Sry not more of a help
@Emeraldwolf3255 жыл бұрын
It's alright. Your tips on how to remove actually got me farther than I was before. Thanks.

Is the 14mm deep offset wrench mandatory

Brian I believe so.

Brian 10 to 15 bucks at Harbor freight. Return it if you have to to save money.

Brian Definitely needed to get the bolts at those angles.

Whats of name of bottom bolt sr ?
@b_gumm4 жыл бұрын
Can you please rephrase your question? I don't understand what your asking? The bottom. Bolt doesn't have a special name, 99% of car bolts don't have special names.
