Thanks for sharing your knowledge. Can I ask a question about how often you replace the rear brake pads and rotors? My 2013 CX-5 needs to replace all brake pads and brake rotors- whatever the fronts and rears- almost per year. Is it normal?
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 3 жыл бұрын
Anytime🙂..the rears will last longer than the fronts..they almost last twice as long as the fronts..but depends on how much miles u put on the vehicle per year and also depends on the type of driving..freeway driving will wear out brakes less than city stop and go driving

"A few knocks with a 4 lbs hammer, and it comes right off" Meanwhile... people up in the rust belt: "Anyone know if Barry Bonds could come over and use this 15 lbs sledgehammer on my rotors for a few hours to try to dislodge it?" In all seriousness, Mazda OEM rotors have a small hole that a M8 1.25 bolt can be screwed into to convert rotational force on the bolt to linear force to the hub to separate the rusted hub from the rotor.

Hey backyard Chevy you say towards the end to tighten the screws to certain pounds. I think the caliper screws were 22? How is that measured? Can it be measured? It would be my first attempt at brake pad replacement and I want to do it right. Also is a resurface of the rotors necessary or not? Thanks!
@backyardchevy328
@backyardchevy328 2 жыл бұрын
Well that would be done using a torque wrench..if u get new brake pads, resurfacing the rotor gives u a fresh surface for the brake pads..so they work better..with better stopping grip..or u can replace the rotor if necessary

Because customer wanted to replace em, but after they explained the reason for it..i had to redo em a 2nd time plus the rotor...reason being steering was shaking when they press brake pedal.
