6:47 if I'm not mistaken, Mazda was the first car maker to do pulsating LED indicators back when they launched the CX30, when everyone else was copying Audi's cascading indicators. Mazda said they made their led indicators look like old school filament bulb indicators, hence the pulse. Now it seems BMW is copying Mazda! That's an indication (pun intended) that Mazda is doing things well in their attempt to enter the luxury car market.

great overview Thomas, love the Mazda interiors, had Stone leather in my 2018 CX-5 and deliberate non-touchscreen infotainment. Key fobs are now available in vehicle colour too. Indicators should be on the outer edge of the light clusters, had to see some of these small ones at night with bright LEDs. Not as bad as KIA Sportage, whose indicators are under boot line bumper, where you cant see them in traffic.

This is good synopsis / comparison of Mazda's line (which is very confusing to me ). If this CX-80 Exactly as shown (being a little smaller than the USA CX-90/70) with the USA's Straight 6 Turbo S , I'd order it Tomorrow. For comparison - aside from solely against the X5 - Acura's MDX Advance is a definite competitor. Without producing a complete Matrix of the features of each, suffice it to say, The 2024 MDX Advance (non Type S) is about $10K MORE than a CX -90 with the Turbo 6 (not the Turbo S ). The 2024 Type S MDX is $13K MORE than the CX-90 or CX-70 (whih is puzzling on Mazda's part) Premium Plus Turbo S model! The two SUV are comparable in size, HP/Torque, interior room, and other features. The MDX adds Massaging seats, Air suspension, auto dampening suspension, interior Light Show, a spectacular ELS Sound system vs the Mazda CX-90 Premium Plus Turbo S. Acura just announced their 2025 MDX Type S with some refreshing enhancements - most notable - was the elimination opf the Touch Pad and going with a Touch Screen InfoT. system screen. But the price is now circa $78K vs $62 K for the TOL CX-90 /70 Premium Plus Turbo S. BTAIM, I would NOT opt for a PHEV. But I would opt for a Gas/Electric Hybrid like the newer CRVs.

I love Mazda and we own a CX-9. But I never considered a CX-70 or 90 here in the States before buying my 2024 X5. It’s a nice car, but it ain’t no X5 (nor is it half the CX-5’s price when equipped with the higher output engine).
@sternskov2629
@sternskov2629 15 күн бұрын
The X5 can’t match the Mazda CX 60, 70, 80 or 90 in design and in quality. And just one detail, it is not the price that determines whether a car is premium. But the quality and the materials. The fact that people are stupid enough to overcharge a German car is people's own problem.

@@sternskov2629 yeah, that’s just arbitrary, vague nonsense. The notion that “premium”, however you define such vague term,is not correlated with cost and price is just silly. Side note. I didn’t equate price with “premium”. I simply pointed out that suggesting this Mazda is half the price of the X5 is not accurate.

Thanks for this preview which I looked at with great interest having bought a CX60 PHEV last year. This car is simply too big for what I want and I already find the CX60 much heavier than I am used to. The UI/UX and buttons are completely familiar and it is a real plus for Mazda that you can now get into all their EV or PHEV ranges and know immediately how they work without retraining. I find the build and features which come as standard rather than extensive expensive options more than premium enough. So for German and other premium brands you have to decide whether the more elaborate suspension and maybe all wheel steering plus the badge are really worth double the price. From the figures mentioned the PHEV setup in this larger CX80 may be a bit under powered compared with the CX60.

CX-60/80 difference definitely makes more sense than the North American 70/90 duo, however I'm disappointed to see the same bulb-like rear styling from the NA duo has been brought over for this CX-80. I was fearing that, since it needed to be lengthened for the third seating row but especially from diagonal angles the rear end looks really bloated compared to the CX-60.

The real problem with the CX-60 was not the size, but the poor insolation, indecisive transmission, bad handling and rough ride. If they have fixed all this I will buy it, otherwise no. I am currently in the market for a new family car as my family got a +1 boost recently :)

Great review as usual. It's always great to watch your reviews and get your perspective from Germany, here in the USA. Overall, I find the design of the CX-70/90 and CX-60/80 sides a little flat and bland. I'd rather see some character, sculpturing or sweep to them, like the CX-5. Also I'd like less roundness to the rear roof line and have it a little more vertical. Thanks again for the reviews.

I don’t know why German reviewers always compare other brands to German cars and talk about them as if they were better. It’ll be better to compare Mazda to Chinese equivalents or perhaps DS7.

Thank you very much for your interest in this topic. I also bought cars with animal skin leather seats before I did my research and got to know the industry. The most important thing is: With today's modern materials, you have nothing to lose, just to gain. You achieve the same kind of luxury and comfort or even better while having the same or better durability with less impact on humans, animals and the environment. You can use fabric/cloth, microfibre or leatherette. The classic approach is using oil/plastic as source material. Overall, a vehicle contains about 300 kg plastic. A car seat needs about 5 kg plastic. So the overall plastic share for the seats is very low and it is at this moment the most efficient way to produce a car seat. A couple of litres of fuel equals a car seat basically. So if you want to save oil/plastic, rather look at consumption for energy, fuel and heating and to other car parts than the seat. Note that animal skin leather also always contains a plastic coating for durability. However, long-term we should of course find raw oil alternatives. So going further, seats can be made from recyclables (e.g. from PET-bottles or old fishing nets) or even increased share of plant-based materials (like pine oil, canola oil or start-up materials like Pinatex from pineapple leaves or Desertex from cactus fibre or the mixed-plant-based Mirum, so be seen at kzbin.info/www/bejne/iWLEf42bpMano6c). On a calculation base, by ditching animal skin leather from car interiors, the amount of emissions (CO2e) is reduced by 85 (!) % (www.press.bmwgroup.com/africa-dom-easteurope/article/detail/T0403389EN/on-the-market-from-2023:-bmw-and-mini-models-with-vegan-interiors?language=en) - and that is a very conservative calculation. So it is at this moment the most important thing you can do to make car interiors more sustainable. A good example for high-end luxury with ventilated animal free seats is the BMW X7 with Sensafin: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Z6G1f56NbtOlqNk And the Kia EV9 with plant-based oil share: kzbin.info/www/bejne/bKe7loOHnsSAd80 New leatherette materials can be superior in every aspect, even for cleaning: kzbin.info/www/bejne/q2qXiouAbJeIiqM More and more natural materials are rising: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIO2pIt7o9x7etE Also check out what the animal skin leather industry tried to with our channel: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pIHCdKmCocZ5oqs For seeing how the animals are being treated and transported in the global leather industry, watch this footage: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qpzNdHSjppaSbqc Note that the footage is genuine and was recorded by a highly decorated investigative journalist in Germany I know myself personally. Also a group of researchers and German journalists from public media could recent directly trace the connection between car animal leather production and illegal burning down Amazon rain forest: www.daserste.de/information/reportage-dokumentation/ard-story/videos/illegales-leder-video-100.html In a high animal skin grade, the animals are specifically raised for this matter. However even if meat is the "first" misuse case, the hide remains a profitable body part. That means: If manufacturers put animal leather in a car and you demand it as a customer, you give your money to an industry that earns money by oppressing humans, animals and harms the environment, you make them more profitable. Alternatively, you could support industries with your wallet which try to improve the sustainability of materials. Also, if you turn the argument around to "meat is the waste of the leather industry" you realize that it doesn't make sense (and is ethically doubtful) to discuss the primary use of individual body parts of mammals. Mind experiment: You are getting slain down on the street; would it matter to you if it was for your smartphone or for your purse? Remember that animal skin leather is no different to fur, fur is just leather where the hair is still on. And fur is widely not accepted for clothing anymore, and of course not for cars. We cannot change what we have bought in the past, but with more information and compassion we can change how we decide in the future. For a great insight into sustainability in the automotive industry, you can also check out our extensive documentary: kzbin.info/www/bejne/Y2nKf4uih6yhnaM
