I have owned Mazdas for the past 19 years, and their reliability has been phenomenal. With new models, especially a new powertrain, there are always issues. So, I will personally wait a bit before considering the CX-90. Mazda made great cars before their partnership with Toyota. It is misleading when people say or insinuate that somehow Toyota is raising the quality of Mazda vehicles to a whole new level. It's a business partnership, people. This means that it's mutually beneficial. For the record, Toyota owns only 5.1% of Mazda.

@@MyUtubeScott Thanks for the suggestion, but I have a hard time seeing him as a reliable source of information. He acts like he builds cars, and he exaggerates too much. For example, he said that under acceleration, the whole car shakes, referring to the CX-9. I own the car, and I have never experienced that. Neither have reviewers in the US, Canada, or Australia. So, I can’t take him seriously.

@@MyUtubeScott I like the CCN... and I was surprised by the strength of the criticisms of that review. His main issue with the CX-90 was the positioning of the timing chains and associated ancillaries at the rear of the engine. If the timing chains or high pressure fuel pump need to be replaced at some point, then the engine has to come out because of limited access in the engine bay. Other mechanics have advised that timing *chains* are a lifetime component and will only wear out if the owner neglects oil changes. They also pointed out that removing an engine is not particularly complex, requiring about 1 hour of work. This is much less than (say) the full 2 days of work that it takes to replace the body mounted seal on the panoramic sunroof of the Highlander (as demonstrated by the CCN in another video)..

Love Mazdas. Have for years. I have been getting them since roughly 2004, yes, the Ford years that were hit and miss. I started with Mazda 3s made in Japan (they didn't have a Mexico plant then). The reason I started getting Mazdas? After the 3rd Honda dealership in a row said "we don't need to negotiate, these are Hondas" I stopped trying and turned out I like the way Mazdas drive better, and have only improved over the last 18 or 19 years, Plus the prices and customer service are phenomenal at the dealers I have dealt with over the years.

I bought the CX-90 Select (base model) for $750 off MSRP with 1.9% financing for 72 months. They also paid full KBB value on my CRV trade. Their offer was so fair (aggressive as they called it), I didn’t even submit a counter offer. This was the first purchase that I didn’t need to back and forth for hours. Happy with the base trim, by the way. Even the base trim is packed with features and I prefer to not have a sun roof in Florida because it’s usually too hot to open the shade.

I'm a Honda guy through and through. I'm currently on my 6th Honda... But Honda(among other automakers) have forgotten what made them great to begin with. A quality, reliable product for a fair price. The prices of new Hondas/Acuras are eye watering and Hondas main selling point was value for money. You were good taking slightly less in the performance or luxury dept because they didn't break the bank and were reliable enough to modify them to make up some of the performance gap. I have no desire to buy a new car anytime soon. But for the first time in 2 decades... I wouldn't blindly buy another Honda.

I bought my first and kast Mazda in 2008, whenni bought a CX- 7 GT with turbo engine. I gor a good deal on the car fully loaded. In my area NYC, Mazda dealer went out of business, my turbo went out at 55k miles. Sadly wa expensive to replace from dealer and if i had it done by local mechanic i was lioking at turbo replacement + engine was burning a little of oil so engine rebuild added as well. All in itself premature damage of engine due to poor engine design. Gave up my car shortly after 58k miles and traded for a Honda Accord 2013 which was trouble free until it got demolished in a 5 car accident.

I got CX-90 PHEV Premium about 2 weeks ago, and I feel it’s not refined in terms of safety and drivers assistance features and entertainment functionality. Apple Car Play is dropping connection constantly, no touch screen in 2024 is just weird. Lane keeping assist is not working properly, blind spot monitor is missing huge trucks, just too many things are not working properly. Not to say PHEV transmission feels clunky and the motor feels underpowered for such a huge SUV. I came from 2021 Kia Sorento, all those features were implemented properly and worked just flawlessly
