Great tutorial! you should do a series of MX5 Maintenance, from where to jack the car up, how often to change the oil / filter, changing air filter, cleaning out the roof drain holes so your car doesnt get flooded. Great vid!

Very good suggestions! I’ll probably do that as it gets warmer and I can get on with more maintenance. Thank you @Johnny Chen

Isn't there a service hole underneath that can be accessed without removing splash shield?
@Driver673 жыл бұрын
Unfortunately there isn’t an easy access cover. The whole undertray has to come off
@Driver673 жыл бұрын
I did my coolant today and I see what you mean. There is a small hole on the undertray directly below the coolant drain. However it is quite a small access hole. I honestly don’t know what tool can be used to access it. If the drain plug is very tight, it might not be possible to use a set of pliers to open it. I ended up removing the undertray instead

Much easier access to petcock I think

Why not use the recirculation of coolant?
@Driver674 күн бұрын
What do you mean?
@olavzwarteveen5246 Жыл бұрын
I thought it is recommended to flush the whole cooling system with distilled water and a special flush product to clean the system and get all old coolant out.
@ADUSN9 ай бұрын
Totally unnecessary on such a new car. After 15+ years I'd say it's necessary
@andymedina3232 жыл бұрын
What kind of coolant did you use?
@Driver672 жыл бұрын
I use Prestone all makes concentrated mix and add distilled water to the ratio I want. 50/50 in cold climate but during summer I run 25% coolant, Because Race Car
@ADUSN5 күн бұрын
OEM coolant is cheap, I'd just use it. I believe it's only available in 50/50 prediluted, but it's something you'll likely only do twice over the life of the car, so not worth going cheap imo
@Driver674 күн бұрын
I do coolant changes 2 times a year. Because Race car. Got winter mix and there is a summer mix. lower ratio of coolant is best to draw heat out.

@@Driver67 In your case as long as it doesn't have additives that damage the system then any is fine. It's mainly when coolant is in there a long time that it matters more what's in it.

@@Driver67 ,, ( is ) .... there's only one cap to fill in which is the expansion tank & easy access to screw / drain plug on driver side.... But your car looks real nice

Why are you not using the Mazda coolant. These days everyone is saying that you need to use OEM coolant because of seal degradation . I have a 2001 Jeep which I don’t adhere to this policy but I definitely would not to this to a modern car .
