How to change the coolant on your MX5

If you use the carafe sideways (not upwards like this video and most people) with the mouth higher than the rest of it, the splashing will be minimum and you can control precisely the flow of the liquid. Old man trick. The mouth of the carafe needs to be higher than the rest, this way the air comes in freely and there is no bubbling nor splashing. Sorry I cant explain myself better.

Hello, I have a mx5 2006 1.8 I just wanted to know after adding the coolant I must bleed the radiator,because I don't know, I opened the reservoir cap, when the engine was cold, but I think that I the air had become trapped in the radiator....😥😥😢😭

this method is a bit dodgy, doesn't really matter though with mx5s in uk as they are dirt cheap and uk never gets that cold or hot BUT obviously as you saw he only ended up less than than the 5l and the car takes 6 litres, so I think he only replaced about 4 litres out of 6 or about 2 thirds so 1 third I a mixture of coolant or as in his case so chemical gunk cleaning stuff mixed (unknown concentration) with hose water. so if he put in 50 50 mix, the actual mix will be lower

Color doesn't matter, you just need it to be ethylene glycol

for a mk3 it's 11 years or 120k miles NOT every 2 years that's overkill even for a mk1
