For heaven sake, the MX5 should never be about speed, or 0-60 times. The car is a throwback to those sublime British sports cars, from the 60s and 70s, such as the Frog Eye Sprite, the MGB or the Triumph Spitfire. Neither of those cars were fast, by today's standards, but they offered wind in your hair, and the perfect road manners and driver engagement. Top speed or acceleration never came into it, and my MD 1.5L is just poetry in motion.

This isn’t the old days anymore. We got FWD cars that move faster and handle great within the Dane price range. There isn’t any viable reason why the Miata couldn’t be more competitive, specially if they want to get younger buyers in to keep the ball rolling. Because right now they’re buyer base is mostly old retired men, and that’s not gonna sustain enough sales to justify production for much longer.
