I don’t agree with the idea that studying or working abroad isn’t worth it; I feel that's misleading. It all depends on what you’re looking for. You mentioned that some of your friends are returning to India after studying abroad, but it’s essential to understand the context. Even if you graduate from prestigious schools like Harvard or Stanford, the recruitment landscape in India can be challenging. Often, recruiters here don’t give higher packages simply because you studied abroad. Many returnees, even from top programs, are offered salaries similar to those of fresh graduates or experienced professionals in India, typically around 10-12 LPA rather than 15-20 LPA or higher. Given the investment of 30-40 lakh rupees (or more) for studying abroad, it makes more sense to gain experience in that country first. Working abroad not only helps you recover the cost of education but also allows you to learn from different cultures and work environments. After four or five years, once you’ve gained solid experience and achieved financial stability, returning to India becomes a more viable option. Ultimately, finding a job depends on your effort. In today’s world, competition is high, and if you don’t consistently improve your skills or apply strategically, you’ll struggle. In India, many people are moving into roles like Business Analyst, Software Developer, or Product Manager with the expectation of high packages. This means competition is intense, and without strong skills and experience, opportunities can be limited. Abroad, while there’s still competition, it’s often less intense than in India. For example, on LinkedIn, you might see hundreds of applicants-500 or even 800-for a single job in India. However, abroad, it’s often closer to 100-200 applicants per position. This doesn’t make getting a job easy, but it can mean slightly better odds. Finally, in terms of work-life balance, many people in India are earning 50-80 LPA, but they often face high levels of stress and limited balance in their personal lives. Reaching these salary levels is no small feat here, and it’s challenging for many professionals. So, working abroad can offer a different perspective and potentially better work-life balance depending on the country.

Getting 80laks salary in US = Getting 4lakhs salary in India . See the diff the teir 2-3 college students get 80lakhs package easily in US but in india does they ? Only tier 1 universities and colleges in india can u give u a package of 20+lakhs

@@BHUSHANBARMAN-cs8xf Thats because in United States even for tier 2 MBAs u need 3+ years of work exp. And it is very obvious the more exp you have, the more pay you get. In India tier 2 colleges only sell their course just like any online platform. That's what I noticed

I agree with the PPP comparison, But you have missed the savings part too. Mostly you can save 5-6L with a 23L package, But even if you save 15k USD that would be around 12-13L

I’m 21, commerce stream, graduated in 2023 with no formal work experience, and I’m trying to figure out if an mba abroad is the right step for me. Here’s some context about my profile: 8/10 and 9/10 in school, 4/4 gpa and distinction (over 70%) in ug from a decent college. While I don’t have traditional work experience, I’ve been active in other ways. I’ve worked and volunteered with ngos, completed virtual internships and even started my own registered business in march 2024. I also had a failed startup when I was 19, which taught me a lot. I’d say I have a solid understanding of digital marketing and branding, but most of my practical experience is tied to my own ventures. So my questions is : with this background, should I even consider an mba abroad for 2025? will top business schools count my business as work ex even though it’s not a corporate job?

My goal is to start my career in India as a CMA, gain some experience, and eventually work abroad. I am considering whether an MBA would be beneficial in achieving these plans. Yes you can, but - it won't make sense from financial perspective, education abroad is expensive! And the landing a job in the range of 12L to 18L in India after paying 30-40L (with scholarship) or 50-70L (without scholarship), as compared to opportunities available in India - doesn't make sense...
