I think Young Hwa can't steal Hong Gi's song and vice versa Hong Gi can't steal Young Hwa's song. Both are amazing and unique in their own style. Two of my favorite voices. Each of them has different qualities. Hong Gi has more power with a perfect belt and overall range, Young Hwa has more versatility and a great falsetto. Hong Gi has that amazing raspy voice, Young Hwa has that amazing clean tone.

agreed… honestly they’re two artists who i feel the originals are always better than the covers. they’re both so lovely it’s enjoyable to hear them sing each other’s songs; but overall, i like how yonghwa sings his own songs and he knows how to write and compose songs that suit him best, and i like how hongki sings his own songs :)

이홍기 어나더 레벨인데. 취향을 떠나서 감성도 성량도 넘 수준급인 거 인정. FT아일랜드가 왜 항상 더 실속 있고 안정적인 지 알 것 같다. 난 륵 별로 안 듣는데 정용화 님이 오히려 사랑 사랑 사랑을 알려 준 것 같아 고맙다. 길이 서로 다른데 정용화님 나름 괜찮지만 이홍기님은 정말 길을 잘 닦은 듯. 멋지네. 처음 듣는데 두근두근하네. 방어 성공할만했음. 들을 때마다 그 천둥같은 목소리 매력있음. 옛날로치면 득음한 목소리라 구성지기도 하고.

I’ve seen them sing each other’s song before. Yong Hwa sang “I Hope” with Hongki in 2023 and they both nailed it. Hongki sang “Loner” with Yong Hwa in the same year, and the way he sang “oetoriya” was raspy in the best way! ❤

I think YongHwa is very smart to rearrange the song into a style which fits him better as for sure he won't be able to beat the original version which HongGi sings, in terms of power strength and emotion. He nails it in the re-arranged version and Hong Gi is so spot-on describing what emotion this new arrangement gives. This arrangement is really impressive (except that I really dislike the way he screams.) It is relaxing to listen to his version. However, Hong Gi nails it so well to showcase a sudden octave up at last to excel this intensive performance within 100 seconds. Hong Gi just boost the emotion all way up! Sometimes you will forget to breathe when listening to Hong Gi's songs as its so heart-wrenching and heavy. I think both versions are great. As a fan, of coz I prefer Hong Gi's version as his vocal strength, power, and uniqueness cannot be compared, but I would be glad if more people will listen to the original version due to this new arranged version by JYH.

Their personalities are so distinct in the way they sing. As a fan of both... Yonghwa is excellent when it comes to the cool breakups, while Hongki just excels at showing all the emotions of a love song. I still love and prefer Hongki's version. 'Love Love Love' is iconic and Hongki's voice really makes the song his own. Hongki's vocals just fit the sad and bittersweet rock ballads I love from 2nd gen kpop sounds

Ngl before watching Yonghwa’s performance i was like “there will be bo hesitation here, it is hard to steal Hongki’s song” but right when Yonghwa starts singing until the end of the performance I was like “whoaaa” all the time and really thought he delivers it well with his style. I agree with Hongki’s comment, Yonghwa’s version is the guy who feel soso about the breakup and might be the villain in the story 😂 Though Yonghwa lose, you can really tell his performance was prepared carefully and professionally. The spirit and passion he pours into the arrangement are conveyed. Good job Yonghwa and Hongki!
