Man brings me back to childhood watching trains pass through downtown from a hotel window, especially thought it was cool how the trains pass right below the convention center.

Excellent! I love going down to the Gulf Coast. Something is so alluring about the Gulf Coast railroad. The whole shadow of Amtrak is pretty cool. Last summer, I went to the USS Alabama. I'm glad you went, too!

Cool, I'm happy you enjoyed watching it. There are really nice spots in the area and fortunately Mobile is a rather small city, which means one can still railfan it without having too much hassle with road traffic.

Thanks for some great videos and I have subscribed. I really enjoy railfan videos without commentary laid over it like some channels do. Take care.

when you chase trains do you chase them with the car window up ? I am just wondering because I chase them with the car window down but what would you recommend ? also if you are ever in North Carolina don't forget to check out Hamlet okay
@mbmars01
@mbmars01 7 жыл бұрын
Well, the video looks nicer if the window is down, but then you have the wind that makes all this undesired noise. I have no actual recommendation. Try it out. Yeah, Hamlet is certainly an interesting spot.

I know that American and Canadian operators rent locomotives to/from other lines quite a lot, but how regular is the sight of a Canadian loco in Alabama?

CN operates an own line that leads into Mobile, AL (on former Illinois Central track). I have a recent video on my channel that features their activities. CP units appear possibly as frequent as anywhere else in the south.

What is the frequency number for the Alabama State Docks? And the line that has the the track running under the building?
@mbmars01
@mbmars01 7 жыл бұрын
Well, there are 5 railroads with their yard/dispatcher/road channels. I used my scanner in search mode across the entire band, which is not optimal, but I was too lazy to figure out the individual channels. The line that goes through downtown Mobile belongs to the CSX NO&M Subdivision and the road channel of CSX is 161.370 MHz if I remember it correctly.
