Last year, for the first time in our lives, my family ate at a sports bar. We live in Texas. There was a live football game playing on the TV. Dallas Cowboys vs. Somebody. Seeing this as our chance to share enthusiasm with our fellow Texans, we all yelled, "TOUCHDOWWWWN!" when the guy with the ball did the thing. Everyone else in the bar was silent. I think we cheered for the wrong team 😂

The part where Griffin says the football field should be ten thousand yards long gave me a flashback to a fanfic I read that was a crossover between MBMBAM and 17776: What Football Will Look Like In The Future, where humans are immortal and completely unable to feel pain, and the entire surface of Earth is used as one giant football field where the 3 McElboys have been resurrected as AI satellites who watch over it all and do commentary.

Accidentally getting trapped in a joke routine by someone who frequents your life is such an unreasonably stressful thing. Same energy as missing your exit on the highway. I work as a cashier in a grocery store, and multiple customers have me trapped in them at this point and there is no escape. I think I wouldn't mind it if I weren't at work, I guess, but I am very much a captive audience at work, yknow?

Why is no one talking about the bit during the Babel ad when Juice was talking about how he recently went to a foreign country and had no problems communicating, right after spending the intro talking about how he went to England, aka a place that speaks English XD

when i was in an outpatient group we had jasons deli for lunch 4 days a week, it was miserable. that was 6 years ago and i still refuse to return, so i feel this question askers pain. changing up orders wasnt really helpful either, as we were only allowed to order from a particular category of food every day, like salads on monday, sandwiches on tuesday, baked potatoes on wednesday, and pasta on thursday. its all inedible to me now.

That grocery store scene reminds me a lot of the 'reset' from Curb your Enthusiasm. Like I regret visiting a place enough that the teller is comfy enough to exchange a greeting or conversation. Like I don't want this, it takes time, we don't need this courtesy, stop. I'll have to drive for 5 more minutes now to avoid this conversation stop please leave me and my family alone HELP

I need to clarify as an English person: I have never heard of most of the shows* from Justin’s game, so I think most have got to be older ones from like the 70’s or had a super short shelf life. *EXCEPT ‘Allo ‘Allo, Vicar of Dibley and Dad’s Army which are all daytime tv sitcoms. Anyway all three of those are ones my 65 y/o mum enjoys so there you go lol

Why are there live action adaptations of anything? When was it decided that animation is just sort of a cheapo, 'first draft' medium? What is it about the Disney film and Japanese anime live action versions that makes the case that this is an Upgrade?

@Jeevesie1988 10 ай бұрын
I admit I haven't listened yet so I don't have the context for this comment, so feel free to totally ignore it if I'm asking something that the episode answers, but... does anyone consider the live action versions of shows/movies that started out as animes an 'upgrade' from the original? XD
@Jeevesie1988

(in writing this I think I just realised the answer to my own question. The film execs do, because it means they can make money off them without having to do any of the creative legwork in commissioning or seeking out an idea that may or may not be popular, since they can just pick something that was popular already as an animated feature.) Capitalism strikes again. :c
@jeremy____5747
@jeremy____5747 10 ай бұрын
@@Jeevesie1988 true, although people seem unreasonably excited for, say, the new live action Last Airbender. LA is pretty widely agreed to be a *perfect* cartoon (and which was already disastrously adapted for live action once). So who actually wanted this? Were there a slice of people who really loved the joyless, song-less, China-approved, grimdark "Mulan" (for $30 extra on Disney+)?
@VeronicaWarlock
@VeronicaWarlock 10 ай бұрын
In order to cope with live action things, I’ve started to think of them as just “the current stage production,” like people are just excited to see the cast, and then it will fade into relative obscurity. Just like famous plays and musicals come back around and celebrities get a chance to be in them, live action versions are just like a momentary fancasting taken a bit too far. And thus I can comprehend them and go on with life, despite original animation being objectively superior 99.99% of the time.

The boys weren’t making a fat joke, they were making a joke about how backward and fucked up Britain is that they’d make a show about that. Just the same as the Minstrel Show bit. They sure as fuck weren’t making racist jokes, they were joking about how Britain sucks for doing that show at all.

@@HamburgerTime209 They have made a ton of extremely shitty and fucked up fatphobic jokes, even past the 100 episode mark where people say they got better about discrimination. Forgive me for not being swayed by your comment when fat jokes and diet culture are treated as welcome on this podcast. /sz
