I thought Travis's solution was the best. Come up with an excuse to put your pull list on hold indefinitely and THEN ghost. It doesn't necessarily have to be a lie, you could literally just tell him; "hey, I'm going to have to get more frugal about my purchase, help me get my pull list trimmed down to only the top 3-5."(you don't have to completely ghost, just only get the physical copies of the comics you enjoy the absolute most) If you're trying to FREE UP physical space that is currently taken up by existing comics, you may also want to check and see if he knows people interested in purchasing the comics that you are transitioning to digital. If you have a full series and have kept them in good condition, you could make a reasonable profit. Making sure he gets a solid cut of that for acting as the go between should help assuage his anxiety over the digital takeover.

never go all digital. if you own a physical copy of a thing, you own that thing until it falls apart or you get rid of it. if you own a digital copy of the thing, you own that thing until the software you need to consume that thing changes or goes down or the owners of it decides to stop hosting that thing
