To my knowledge, for podcasts it's about the total number of downloads/listens that they can report to advertisers and especially how many people sign up for the things that sponsor them with the links, that's why this video doesn't have any KZbin ads. Regardless of the platform. I have no idea how Spotify works with podcasts but most of the time the creators have no relation with the podcast apps, the apps just host an RSS feed.

I dont doubt its funny but hate the sound quality from when they record live infront of an audience vs when they record just themselves plus I dont care for hearing the audience. They are hilarious and I can laugh when and at what is funny.
