In regards to the B.B. hight is probably perfect because it has loads of travel you sag in a load
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
mental mtb yes you will sag into it more with longer travel but it’s still relatively high. Considering the Twinloc lets you raise the ride height, Scott could have made the B.B. height slightly lower in both shock positions.
@Twentykixx6 жыл бұрын
Yeah, same here. However, MBR doesn’t particularly like Scott all that much from what I gather over the range, so it’s nice to see both sides of the coin on this bike. I have the 700 Tuned LT and have no intention of upgrading...yet. I found that MBR is more concerned about the overall characteristics of the geometry and components, which really impact the long term relationship between rider and epic rides. My Genius 700 Tuned LT will be hard to match given its 160 front and rear which I find to be the perfect sweet spot for all day riding. Newer doesn’t always mean better, and the reason I didn’t go to the new Genius. I would love to get my hands on a Ransom for comparative critique, so hoping someone will try that. 😀

The Genius was our trail bike of the year 2018 and the Spark won it the year before, so not sure why you get the idea we don't like Scott!
@Twentykixx6 жыл бұрын
Scott is a larger manufacturer and has a VERY large lineup, so I hear negative connotations when I listen to your commentary directly. It’s not so much a dislike or hate, but more expected perfection maybe and I get that. Maybe it’s just me, but I also find your attitude toward Scott’s new technology, or personal opinions negative. That being said, if I found settings that were off, like the B.B. height, please find a way to convey your reasons more clearly. Maybe a side by side comparison to actually show this offset. Moreover, since the geometry and the travel progression is so very critical, please explain this using the trail and a test rider 1:1. This review was very bland and typical. I actually like the way you convey your acumen of the subject, but please give more dimension to your reviews. Case in point, the pedal striking with the B.B. set low with the 27.5 and the long cranks. I would love to see the clearance with your explanation in a trail setting specific to how a rider may experience this oversight. BTW, the Specialized Enduro cannot be compatible with this bike 1:1. The slack angles and geometry are a one-off spec from the typical line. I would say the Pivot, YZ, Santa Cruz and Canyon would be it’s better competition. The new Pole and the Specialized Enduro would be a very nice model to compare directly as these are basically chair lift to Enduro riding IMHO.

They’ve literally given Scott bikes the trail bike of the year award for 2 years in a row so I don’t know how you work that one out.
@Twentykixx6 жыл бұрын
It’s called selective process, under the scope of manufacturer relegation. Hence, “If I give this that... Then I should give that this.” This is how each manufacturer can sell in the stream enough to keep the lights on. Mountain biking is finally succumbing to the dollar economics openly since its growth over the past few years, so cultivating the consumer has become paramount. Scott has all of the streams covered, so they should be relegated, assisting other manufacturers to co-exist? Well, that’s the short answer how to simplify it. Work that one out.

The Mondraker foxy 29 has 350mm BB height. I'm curious how you find that
@benanderson46396 жыл бұрын
I learned to ride on a Cannondale jemini and they have the highest bb of any bike ever, so I really like a high bb
@JodyM26 жыл бұрын
would the bottom bracket high be lower if you had a person mounted on the bike?
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
Yes, of course, but it would still be high relative to other bikes with similar travel.
@ollierichards65086 жыл бұрын
@@MBRmagazine is the bottom bracket height still relatively high with the 650b wheels?
@MBRmagazine6 жыл бұрын
Ollie Richards it’s about average if you run it in the low setting, but higher than average in the high setting

170mm and coming in under 29lbs, nice. I wonder why they did that 1 piece bar/stem, that seems odd.

Brilliant review honest and factual . Avoid the bike like the plague hahaha. I had a scott ransom 10 ltd 2007 nothing but hassle with the shock
@4no3bo3dy6 жыл бұрын
Eh, I owned a 2013 Genius and loved the shock throughout UC Santa Cruz upper campus / Downieville / Tahoe Rim Trail. Here's to hoping that 11 years of rider feedback and engineering input w/ Fox has created a considerable upgrade in performance from your old Ransom.
@rantingwrench6 жыл бұрын
Why do Scott insist on gimmicks and overcomplication when nobody actually wants it? Nobody wants to run 27.5+ wheels on an enduro bike, but they've compromised the geo in the 29er setting to accommodate them. Nobody wants to be locked into one preset cockpit setup, but one-piece carbon bar/stem combos look cool so they give you one on the model which is likely to be ridden by the most picky/discerning riders. Nobody wants that silly TwinLoc remote hogging their handlbars, and the associated snakes nest of cables, but they continue to put it on every bike at the expense of dropper post access (and the Ransom seems even worse than usual). It's frustrating because they could be really nice bikes, but I would never ever buy one... *because* of all the 'features'...
@koho6 жыл бұрын
Hmmm - this bike is getting lots of great press from knowledgable reviewers saying the progression switch and geo lockout actually work well (and better than on previous Ransom's). So when you say "nobody wants...", maybe you mean, "I don't want..."??

Hey James, nobody cares about what you have to say. Firstly because you're just a typical keyboard warrior who is too petty and entitled to ever try anything different until its a new standard within the bike industry and secondly because you're just another one of those people who are absolutely fantastic at finding everything wrong with something before you've even tried it because you realize you yourself have nothing going for you as a rider and have to bring those that are trying new things down to your level. STOP BEING A KEYBOARD WARRIOR AND ACTUALLY, TRY SOMETHING DIFFERENT YOU DRIPPY FANNY.
@rantingwrench6 жыл бұрын
An awful lot of assumptions there, most of them wrong. I think you might be surprised by the parts I've put on my current bike, and the smaller, independent and forward-thinking brands I choose to support in my job (surprise, I'm in the industry myself). No worries though, I'll go and ride my boring, standard bike, and you can enjoy your cluttered, overcomplicated view into the future. Everyone's a winner.

yeah, nice videos on your channel man. I think I might question whether traveling at light speed is possible after seeing your videos.

Hey James, I want the Twinloc. Infact It's incredible for the trails I ride. To each their own. You may not want it but others do which is why Scott still makes profit selling their bikes. Not to mention Nino uses it dozens of times and is the UCI XC champ for the 4th year with over 30 wins. So when you say 'Nobody' you need crawl out from under that rock you've been living under.
