59:30 IDK how everyone involved got this wrong, but no, you absolutely don't have to activate Dimension Wall as CL1. The attack response window functions identically to the summon response window. 100 chain links could be added in response to attack declaration and you'd still be allowed to activate Dimension Wall.

I never liked how Cimo says how Chain Burn is the best match-up against Dragon Rulers, when it's literally the best match-up against ANY normal deck, basically. The vast majority of decks can't do anything about it. And for Dragon rulers specifically, it's probably the best kind of deck to find a specific out against Chain Burn if there are any in the side board. So it's not even a true statement to say it's the best match up against Dragon Rulers, just for the unprepared.

I mean i don't blame Cimoo at all for playing chain burn if Gage is still completly unwilling to side against it. Just wiretap can do a lot to hurt the chain, but theres also royal decree, prime material dragon, etc. Gage also missplaying constantly against it.

Shock was definitely the right pick, vanities will probably be hall of famed once pendulum drops and chain burn gage does have the counters for it like trap stun but gage has just let his side prepare more for boxers and es even tho his main deck is already set for them.

dragons of legend is an insane set becuase it existed to be like dm fanboy cards but the most iconic moment in waking the dragons is when yami yugi uses berserker soul to kill the fuck out of weevil and the real life version of that card is like.. unrecognizable and also way worse and then like soul charge got used once and then was printed almost verbatim, with double the life point cost, a HOPT, and the restriction changed to no battle phase. like the people were really clamoring for a print of soul charge from the scene where raphael uses it to die

36:54 I only put the best card in the center in games because I know the AI is going to snipe it no matter what if it wants to and can so I'm not going to waste my time choosing something besides the default slot. Against real people my preference is to the left because left is the best. The only exception is if there's already a card on my opponent's field in that slot or I'm playing pend which is rare.

3 cards that can get you to the card, plus the card itself. And all dragon rulers does is draw and deck thin. Considering how slow burn is, there is a very good chance of getting prime material on the board.

i don't even disagree with that conclusion, i just don't think that somehow now means the matchup is now unloseable. lava golem, dimension wall, deckout with messenger or some shit and so on are not stopped by sticking a prime material on turn 8. i'm sure chain burn is going in the trash after the reaction to this ep, but cimo would hopefully take the ladd lesson from game 2 to heart and side more outs to blanket answers like these from now on anyway

LaDD is once per chain it does not help against chain burn. It would've added a chain link to Chain Strike and negated the first card Cimo flips.

it does drain a lot of resources though and cards like cardcar and pot of greed lose their value. so this really drains cimos resources. it also stops the barrier, which is arguably the biggest source of consistent damage for cimo. so id say its very strong

I think if they do a season 3 progression series they should make a rule that starting from like set 3 they can’t play the same cards in their main deck back to back weeks. This way we wouldn’t have things like chain burn back to back, or rulers/blackwings(s1) for months on end. Would also force them both to think outside the box at times

I don't know what people expect Alex to do? Gages dragon ruler core is just so strong, alex has to play floodgates or burn to win (or get insanely lucky with "monarchs"...). The current problem aren't the deck choices of alex but the dragon ruler cards from gage.

That's Alex's own fault though. He's had the chance to re roll every set for the entire series but he just gives up on the set if he doesn't pull a constructed competitive deck from it in one try.

@@Rebornblader kind of, but not really. there was no guarantee that his dragon ruler pulls would be as good as gages (although I agree, he should have at least tried). and even if his pulls were equal to gages, we would see dragon ruler mirror after dragon ruler mirror until the pendulum cards eventually catch up in strength. the problem isn't alex, it is how important one single pack is for such a long amount of time. but it is of course much easier to blame a person than recognise a systematic problem.

@@Lich_V. It's not just about his Ruler pulls. Alex could have attempted to mulligan his Order of Chaos pulls for Inzektors. He could have tried to re spin Cosmo Blazer for Fire Fists. I believe he has a fairly competent Lightsworn deck that he just completely ignores. Alex can do more than just tunnel himself on floodgates, burn, or Monarchs and if the rest of his card choices are so bad, that's on him. This isn't always an Alex problem. Gage has been on Rulers for what feels like an eternity. It was nice seeing him play jank and interesting strats during the 5D's era. Meanwhile, Alex spent those episodes still trying to jam Zombie Chaos lists. I think that's why Alex is the more frustrating of the two. He just doesn't try ANYTHING new or interesting. If it didn't have any success in the TCG, he generally wants nothing to do with it.
