I was so hoping someone did this. Thank you for doing this. This is history. You should reach out and share this video with local news stations here in Boston because I've yet to see a single local news broadcast that shows the last train ride before the shutdown. To everyone in the Boston area reading this - good luck over the next month getting around Boston and the surrounding areas. We are all going to be effected by this in ways we haven't even realized yet. It's gonna be a shit show.

I was actually interviewed by Camilo Fonseca from the Boston Globe about the shutdown. As for news outlets, I'm not sure who I'd be able to get into contact with about providing this footage. And yes, best of luck to all the Bostonians who will have to find alternate routes due to the shutdown.

Thanks for filming this! I took these Hawker Siddely trains a lot when I lived in Forest Hills and worked in and around Boston. I so love the interiors with their faux walnut paneling and warm colors. The CRRC trains look institutional in comparison.

39:25 I was at Ruggles that day filming the 1200s, hearing the operator announcing with the tone of "Ru~ggles!", but didn't expect that was THE last train lol

Thanks for making this video! I grew up riding the Hawker's and was unfortunately out of town when the shut down began. I doubt they will, but It would be really nice if the MBTA did a "Fan Trip" of sorts so that everyone has a chance to get one last ride on the cars which have served the Orange Line for 40+ years. Regardless, I have many memories of riding these trains, they've served Boston well over the years.

Thanks for the kind words! I would really like for them to do a fan trip as well, but we'll have to see.

Update: I saw the 01200 series trains, and at the moment, the ones that still work, are currently stored at the Wellington Yard. The ones that are vandalized (and probably don’t work properly anymore), they’re probably waiting on a track, to eventually be scrapped, I think. Meanwhile, the CRRC trains are the ones in service. But if they ever decide to run the 01200 series again, well, I’ll try to see them in action. Rumor has it that a pair of the 01200 series will eventually be sent over to the Seashore Trolley Museum (Kennebunkport, Maine). In the very far future, if that rumor eventually turns out to be true, well, it’ll be very interesting.

Seashore Trolley Museum was suppose to receive 01252/01253 unfortunately they rejected the 01200s. This is due to lack of space also they have Hawker Siddeley 0622/0623. As of 2024 48 Hawker Siddeley 01200s are left operatable at Wellington Yard. Although some of them got graffitied but they still work

I wonder if Toronto ever had Hawker Siddely built subway trains?

These have been moved around Wellington Yard. In June, the T moved them from right side of yard next to Wellington Carhouse. I dont know by looping or tow.

The last ones were scrapped a few days ago. None will be preserved due to some beef with the seashore trolley museum

Will the entire fleet be scrap or some will be reserved?
@JakeWolf002 жыл бұрын
A bit late, but at the moment, it seems like all but two (01252 and 01253) will be sent to Costello Dismantling over the next few months to be scrapped. 01252 and 01253 are supposedly going to the Sea Shore Trolley Museum in Kennebunkport, Maine, but details on that have been very limited.

Even the the 01200s are based on the PATH PA3s, the interior more resembles a TTC H-series car.

I've been told by every T employee I talked to that these trains are not running when the shutdown resumes. If they do run again, I will be very surprised. But until then, this is their last run in my books.

@@bruhz_089 I saw his video. I don't normally like to throw shade, but I'm more inclined to believe the T employees. If they do indeed run again, I'll take back what I've said. But until then, I'm sticking to the T's words.

The 1200 series are not retired at the moment. Still 66 cars active and will only see a very small amount used until 2023 when full fleet of new cars arrive. People that work in the T have different thoughts about how the Orange line works. Also the 1200 series fleet will act as a standby train as well incase new cars have another issue
