If I sense that my opponent has Ash and holding it for branded fusion (they usually forgot to turn off toggle so you can check responses with cards like patchwork, but then they turn it off to make it appears that they don't have Ash, this is the BIGGEST clue they have Ash), I will just search branded in red and set up 2 Masquerade. At least I know they start with 5 cards since the Ash in hand is a dead card

There is nothing more depressing than seeing 3-4 interrupts on your opponents board and them instantly using Maxx C the moment your turn starts. Everyone who uses the argument that it helps going second conveniently forgets that the other player can use it too; thus, resulting in them drawing a bunch of hand traps or extenders to rebuild their board next turn.

Honestly I would love this series to drop the gamification of the debate. I don't get why there has to be a 'hidden fake opinion' to sniff out. I don't really think Maxx "C" is as problematic as others think. Maxx C may be extreme, but there's a parabola of impact Maxx C has in where there is either very little impact because you still die regardless of what you draw, it has very little impact against you when going second because you didn't draw into your boardbreakers and you still just lose and the highpoint where it is very impactful because you drew the cards you needed off Maxx "C" and survived for your turn to come around. Everyone who argues about Maxx C being toxic against Going Second players has to understand that the pace of Yugioh is still 3 turns. Maxx "C" in the turn 1 player's hand might as well be a brick for the most part as it's a Dead Draw and using it on Turn 2 after setting up a strong board is basically win-more. And unless if you draw into meaningful handtraps that can save your bacon from an OTK, Maxx "C" won't save you from getting OTK'd. Maxx "C" is still a great tech option, but I feel that the logic of everyone running Ash, Called By and Designator to counter Maxx "C" is disingenuous. Ash will always be played because it's strong against a very large percentage of Decks and even can win games by itself, Called By is great disruption for handtraps and float effects in general and Designator is strong because MD being a Bo1 makes it so that a lot of players run common tech cards to have options against a varied number of decks makes it live more often than not. Those cards are all strong against Maxx "C", but Maxx "C" isn't the sole major reason to run them either.

Here's a good discussion topic, which is better: Supporting old and out of date archetypes or make new archetypes/series that can support older archetypes/series. So an example, new Volcanic support or a new Pyro series/archetype that CAN retroactively support Pyro.

Let's take a favourite DM era card like Beaver Warrior and archetype like Spirit Message. For Beaver Warrior just do whatever you can so players want to play put him in the deck. For Spirit Message it's just best to make new cards that gives a reason to put the spells cards in the deck.

ok getting more into the video, and seeing MBT's explanation (side note MBT was Deathly opposed to Maxx "C" a year ago, seeing him now nuanced on it, is astonishing to me and shows people been too biased agaisnt the card) i find it funny tho Farfa and the others when hearing his explanation that Full Combo + Maxx "C" is no different to Full combo W/O Maxx "C" simply put, going full combo and a board full of negates, without interuption, doesnt matter if Maxx "C" is played or not, its a sign youre opponant had no means to out the board, and even if they do when its their turn, their expending all their starting resources just to break it, leaving them without a opener of their own, only for you without a shadow of a doubt, proceed up with rebuilding that exact same board on youre follwing turn because youre deck is capable of being started off a single card, now youre opponant litterally has nothing and is a goner, Maxx "C" never even entered the equation because it simply wasnt needed. the fact no one even understood this, right away and shook their head in confusion, tells me anti Maxx "C" absolutists dont think through their arguements very well and just let bias take hold when this card is talked about.

Tbh the biggest issue with Maxx C is that you draw into even more hand traps, which you can then activate, if it had a line at the end of the effect that went something like "You cannot use any other effects this turn", the card would still have those funny 30 card hands while also letting you cook if you wish.

Outside of the board breaking part that opinion MBT gave was actually based. All you have to do is build your decks with an alternate line for when your opponent plays Maxx "C", I mean it's not much different from playing around Nibiru. The issue is TCG players are just so use to going all in that most of them refuse to compromise. And yes not all decks automatically run Maxx "C" because depending on the deck I'd rather not brick with a handtrap that doesn't do anything turn 1 or is basically useless against common decks like Runick, Floo, Eldlich, etc. Like probably about half my decks don't even run it and, for example, looking at the Master Duel Meta site only about 50% of Branded Despia decks are running it at 3.

There is no alternate line. Decks special summoning a lot isn't overextension, its game design by konami. What is salamangreat going to do vs maxx c? Wolf + trap pass is already like 4 cards at minimum. Also both of MBTs examples where made up nonsense. Mathmech scoops to maxx c and branded doesn't care about maxx c with their basic line already.

With the Tesco meal deal question: The meat sub, some pasta or if I'm wanting to treat myself a rustler burger as a main. For the side it would be chicken fridge raiders, chicken fillet or the chicken satay (I love chicken) For drinks it would be an tropicana or water (watching the calories after the main and side) Overall the £3.40 meal deal (with club card) is insane, the closest thing to equal value is a full power tear combo when your opponent has not response. For Maxx.C, I' m just gonna say this, and feel free to call me out on this if you want: The OCG card design is clearly made with Maxx.C in the format in mind. Seeing at how we usually get the same cards here in the TCG, I feel like Maxx.C is not necesserialy a good or healthy card, but it' s a card that works as an equalizer for the game as a whole.

Thats not really the case.. maxxc "works" in ocg because most ocg events play bo1 Swiss bo3 top cut which creates a dynamic where big combo deck will auto lose x% games to maxxc and autolose x% games going 2nd without a side. That introduces a lot of variance into your event performance and yugioh players hate variance That same dynamic doesn't really work in master duel or tcg where you play enough games to normalize your "luck" so players can simply focus on highest possible win% instead of game to game consistency

So here is the thing: Maxx C does not influence winrates outside of very niche cases like Floo and hard stun. If a player resolves maxx C then their winrate in that game shoots up immensely but every player is gonna resolve maxx C a similar amount of times. The only thing maxx c equalizes is skill issues because many of the better players would win their maxx c games even without it while bad players would lose the games if they didnt have the C. Now imagine playing a tournament like the recent MCS and every game counts 7-1 means you top 6-2 means you likely bubble. Yugioh is already a game with high amounts of variance due to bricks and godhands but add maxx c into the mix and its way more likely to have a game stolen off you.

In the master duel format I honestly don't think Maxx C is even the biggest problem card in the format, sure it's absurdly powerful, but there are so many ways to cheese wins in a best of 1 that I really don't think Maxx C is even in the top 5 for problematic cards. Just be thankful that mystic mine isn't available in master duel
