2pac=GOAT...Pac wrote and recorded "7 Day Theory" in 3 days. And during those 3 days, he recorded 21 songs. That's 7 songs a day...He finished "All Eyes On Me" in 2 weeks. He wrote "Hail Mary" in 30 mins. As a matter of fact, he released 3 classic albums in 1 year. And "All Eyez on Me" was a double album, which is considered two albums. So that really 4 albums in 1 year...No rapper in history has ever made classics that fast...Plus, Pac never had a Dr. Dre, Rick Rubin, Just Blaze, Kanye West, or Timberland who are argueably some of the best hip hop producers ever. Also, in 5 years, Pac created 17 years worth of material. If that's not the GOAT, i don't know what is....One more thing, at 25, Pac had 5 classic albums under his belt...Tell me how many your favorite rapper today had at 25....And name one song by these top guys today that is as deep as Tupac's "Blasphemy"....Plus, Pac have 7 of the most influential songs in Rap History when you look at "Keep Your Head Up", "Dear Mama", "Hit'em Up", "Hail Mary", "I Get Around", "Brenda's Got a Baby", and "Pour Out a Lil Liquor".....No rapper matches that résumé.... Jay, Em, and Nas are nice, but they have a long way to go before they reach Pac level.... And if we gone talk about who's the king right now, in 20 years Em put out 3 classic albums...In 20 years Jay put out 5 classic albums...In 20 years Em has two classic hip hop songs that's respected across the board, "Lose Yourself" and "Stan"....Jay has "Dead Presidents II", "Hard Knock Life", "Empire State of Mind", "DOA", "99 Problems", and "Dirt of Your Shoulders"....In 20 years Em has sold 150 million records, and by his own admission he said that he would of sold half if he was black. So that 75 million records....Jay has sold 100 million records....So when you put the facts on the table, its easy to see Jay is king today....

To me, it was at least 3 characters in the movie 2Pac woulda fit in portraying, which were Caine, O-Dog & Sharif.. And I guess in Pac's view at that time, it was pretty unrealistic for someone who's highly religious to surround themselves around a bunch of gangbangers, drug dealers & killas.
@DeSch0ft Жыл бұрын

He never grassed, he was shot, never wore a vest on stage ( 50 cent did lol ) went to the crip’s territory by himself after an altercation between him and them and a friend to squash the beef. He was always strapped! Even allegedly on the ambulance ride to the hospital on the night of his fatal shooting, his last words to the police where F you when they asked him did you see who shot you. Caine's narration in the movie was "Sharif was an ex-knucklehead-turned-Muslim..." That's all we needed to know. Leaving it up to our imagination as to why. The only one we needed details on was Caine himself because he was the lead character. Sharif was a supporting character.

"They didn't want him in the movie!" That's messed up, man. I guess the Hughes Brothers had something against 2Pac or his lack of conformity so maybe that's why they assigned him the role of Sharif rather than just deciding not to cast him or call him in for readings. Since he had such a close bond with Jada from their performing arts school days it would have been cool if the Hughes Brothers had been more open minded and been willing to cast Pac as Caine since that character was romantically involved with Jada's Ronnie character in the film. I think their onscreen chemistry would have been something else!

All of you who think MC Eiht is disrespecting Tupac here need to realize that several people who worked with and are close with Pac have said similar things about Tupac being somewhat phony and someone who can flip out very easily. Tyrin Turner (Caine in Menace II Society), Jermaine Hopkins and Omar Epps(who starred in Juice with Pac) have all given first hand accounts of Pac causing problems on movie sets because he would be angry or too playful during the readings and filming. MC Eiht mentions here that the Hughes Brothers directed 3 of Pac's videos and did not want to work with him in a movie because of his behavior. Shock G from Digital Underground has also said in interviews that Pac changed when he watched himself playing Bishop in the screening for Juice. Shock G thought Pac wanted to be like the character Bishop in real life. Remember MC Eiht said in another Vlad interview that "Pac Went Backwards By Affiliating Himself With Gangs." Wanting to be like Bishop probably played a big part on why he wanted to be a gangsta. It's unfortunate because Afeni and Mutulu Shakur instilled righteous/uplifting the black community values in Pac when he was growing up, but Pac allowed the entertainment industry's money and fame to get him off that righteous path, and it eventually led to him being gunned down and killed in 1996!!
@MemrYou8 жыл бұрын
I feel it. But he was only 21-22 or whatever at that time, he was still trying to find himself. That Attitude turned into ThugLife.

+Me Mr. Who? GREAT point!! I'll admit to being overly critical of Tupac because he spoke out of both sides of his mouth and to me, that came across as hypocritical/2-faced. I honestly could see where Pac was coming. He would've easily been one of the more recognisable faces in that movie at that point in time. Add that a minute or two of backstory could've easily been done and would've gave some more depth to that character. Plus Pac from his own mouth said he thought, from his POV, that the role was hypocritical and wasn't a true representation of either side.

Why do people call Pac "fake"? Lol this is why I know people are too simple minded. Pac wasnt fake, he jumped into a life that wasnt exactly what he raised to be apart of, but when he said he was "Thuglife" he embodied that. Pac wanted to relate to the crowd he wanted to reach. He attempted to turn his message from Black Panther, to a more Thugged out point of view. That aint fake. Thats some TRUE ASS shit. In the process, he made enemies due to this. Enemies he wouldve never made had he stayed on the "black power lets all unite" tip, but he knew that route wouldnt have touched everybody he wanted to. Mfs overlook that. Pac wasnt fake, he just chose to be true to the bone.

The reason why Tupac rejected to play his role in Menace II Society because the directors were forcing him to play the role of a "Muslim Gangster". Even though Tupac was not Muslim he felt uncomfortable to take on the role because he believed the role was "Unrealistic" and would be "Offensive" to others. Due to his high respect for other's belief Pac put his career on the line and rejected the $ 100,000 movie role.

The backdrop of this story is that the movie would've never been greenlighted had Tupac not been associated with the movie. The Hughes brother is on record saying the producers wanted Tupac in the movie and Tupac gave them permission to use his name to secure the funds for that movie. Tupac had more power over what role he could play and actually out of respect for his relationship with John Singleton requested to have a minor role in the movie. He has an interview talking about this and how he viewed his partnership with Singleton as akin to Scorcese and De Niro and did not want to have a major role with another director. I think upon getting his small role he felt reservations about not only the small role but the subservient image it portrayed and constantly complained and wanted tweaks to be made to the character. One of the Hughes brothers said they kept firm about not changing that character and that's when Tupac showed his frustration by showing up late and refusing to wear make up and being quiet during their rehearsals.
@fondel6147 Жыл бұрын
That's in addition to the fact that 2Pac felt the Sharif role wasn't an accurate portrayal of a young black male in a crew like that. If the Hughes brothers had tried to mediate orsimply not lead with their ego it likely would have went down different.

Tupac was playing a character his whole career, if you people dont remember he was wearing a tutu and his younger years and was dancing with Digital Underground in the beginning of his career. That doesnt mean his music was garbage, but he got caught up in a image and ultimately payed the price for it.

He would have just gone off on the phone conversation with Erin Wiley and put so much raw anger and defiance into his lines.

Just because you don't want to associate with such people, doesn't mean they don't belong to the same ethnic/social/religious group as you.
