I have tried so many times to make this video but i kept coming up against the same wall time after time, it was during this time that i realized just how far modern day MCC's had changed for the worse from the original concept.

This is part of the reason I don't do clubs. There might be 5 people on the whole planet that I would be willing to ride with. I ride my own ride and do my own thing. My life, my bike, my rules! No patch/colors needed or required.

Very early 80's I was in an MCC. We were organised around the MC's way of doing things. if I remember correctly friends, family etc could get a friendship patch that they wore on the front of whatever they wanted. It was about 4 x 5 inch. That was it... All that patch meant was just that a Friend.
@BrianKnox-dd2pi

Yep exactly... OGRI MCC wore their patch on the back since it started and we had friendship patches for special friends.

Leopard Pagan Nowhere in this video did i say i didn't favour women wearing patches or being in a club, what i said was "wifes and girlfriends who don't own or ride their own bike shouldn't be wearing patches" i personally know many MCC's that have women who ride their own bikes and i also know all women MC's too, those women earned their patches and status by riding and owning their own bikes.

zJxke You DON'T put any kind of club patch on your cut in Scotland without first speaking to the 21 / BA, least of all on your back. If you slap an UN-sanctioned patch on your cut for a motorcycle club without their say-so, you'll lose it as well as everyone else wearing it.

I spoke to somebody who’s a member of an MCC. I asked him the same question about the differences between an MC and an MCC. He told me that MCC’s are not 1% groups like most MC’s. He also mentioned that family life comes first and the club comes second, but it’s the opposite if you’re in an MC. I’m still not sure what to believe though.

I recently started out as a hang around for an MCC that is quite respected in our area of east sussex. I agree with your video in most respects. The MCC I am currently hanging around with does actually require me to be hanging around for a number of weeks, sometimes months depending on the club's meeting schedule, before I'm even invited to become a prospect, which has a minimum term of six months and a unanimous vote in favour of my getting the patch. Which I find to be quite refreshing as I have done a lot of homework on what kind of club I felt I could be a welcome addition. I read up and visited RC's MC's Brotherhoods etc. So when I found this MCC I went down to the club house, on my own, to see what they were about. I had my reservations as I too heared a lot about mom and pop MCCs kicking about. But they really are a proper bunch of lads, only difference being that they run a sergeant rather than sergeant at arms and they allow women in the club of a Friday, kind of an open house deal.

When a club goes from being an MCC to an MC a lot of things change, the first things that change is the clubs attitude towards anyone outside of the MC itself, even the way they conduct themselves around other clubs changes, they only have loyalty to their own club and the Brothers within it.

Prospected / patched into a 1% club. Left out of own choice due to my heart no longer being in it. I put my career before club as i realised i was NOT cut out for the long run. Some people need to realise the reality of the club scene before they join. Its not sons or anarchy, it’s not bloody boy scouts The club i affiliated with was old school to the point of when greeting a brother , it was droned into my head that if u hug u never touch the centre patch. Essentially never touch another members including prospects etc to NOT touch a brothers patch under any circumstances. Always found it odd when looking at other clubs especially a specific popular club ( usually the younger generation like myself) would dance about , throwing stuff over colours. Prospects pushing around full Patches “for a laugh” to me this shows lack of respect. Theres a line between respect and banter. Everything dibber has said is FACT. Another thing i don’t understand is those who brag about the club they are in as if its a fashion. Another protocol was never to boast or fly your colours with the intention of attracting attention. Never wore colours solo, never went out to the local shops rocking colours all these things show ego, insecurities and the opposite of respect for your club. My personal advice to those joining the club scene. Seek advice from the older blokes, the blokes who keep their mouths shut. Stay away from the ones who brag about “back in my day blah blah” its all bullshit. I stuck to the older chaps, learned how to operate. Made my mistakes as a prospect and learnt the hard way. Again, mainly for new members - if you’re unsure about anything when prospecting just ask. Get all the teething problems out the way early. If you’re told to do something by a specific full patch. Remember it and show that member that you have taken it on board. Simple things like that will go a long way and that individual will remember the effort u put in. In regards to people feeling like prospecting involves committing crimes and being treated like crap is a myth. Show your confidence, show that you are willing to learn. Drop your ego but don’t drop your ability to stand your ground. Ive had a handfull of disagreements in my prospective process but you do have to address a full patch as if they are your mentor. Any issues - speak to your sponsor. Any internal issues talk to your SA. Just want to clarify that i am in no way as experienced as dibber or possibly even most of the members who watch these videos but we all share the same respect and guidelines when communicating with your own club. Anyway, much love, enjoy the videos.

@@DibberInTheWind apreciate all your video’s! It waters down all the crap some of the US and other country clubs spit out. I think some younger guys join thinking the club will become a way to get women, reputation etc. a turning point for me was watching a large number of prospective members deal with a drug bloke at a pub. Those who jumped in proved that if it was one on one not one of those guys would have my back. The ones who stayed back and watched were the ones who were REAL. Dosent take 8 blokes to remove one drunk sausage. It’s bullying and those individuals were hiding behind their colours, pack mentality - didn’t sit well with me at all. Anyway! Leaving on a positive note - i think there needs to be a big shift in discipline. Quality over quantity. I left out of choice , no bad blood whatsoever. Mad some life long friendships and will always look dearly on those times but it would be disingenuous for me to carry on half assed Thanks for all the content, hopefully other will learn a lot otherwise they will end up bumping into some very serious people who wont take their attitude very well lol!

Agree 100% with your video. I live in Scotland and know a lot of mcc who just through patches on people, i know people who went to one meeting and got a patch. Dont agree with with it at all, how do you know there trust worthy? Every Mcc should have a prospective stage, the mcc i am in has got a 3 month probation period, fair enough its not very long but its something and if they dont think your ready it gets extended. It has a chairman, treasurer and secetary, meetings every month, rallies and we have trophies for biggest turn out at rallies. Another thing I agree with you is not having a bike license but getting patched, eh?? Thats like joining a swimming club but you cani swim! A lot, i mean a lot of mcc are just clubs thrown together with the members having no understanding in the motorcycle club world. Bring back the old ways my brother. Keep the quality videos coming. Respect

To confuse things further there are side patch mc's and mcc's who sport back patches. The truth is a back patch club is 1%, if you haven't got that tag you're essentially an mcc regardless of patch placement.

Always be honest with them Sid, let them know you respect them as a crew and appreciate being a part of their collective group, be honest and tell them your beliefs regarding patches. If it makes you feel better about the situation tell them you want a prospect period as that way you can join without diluting your own convictions regarding this issue, there is middle ground for compromise in situations such as this. Joining a club is like a glove, sometimes you have to adjust it to fit right.

Completely agree I'm only 22 but had an older friend start an MCC that had been in the bike scene from years a few weeks later he was just offering people patches without even consulting anyone else in the club their was people in it that didn't drive bikes and people in it that didn't want too go too bike rallies I was the only one too organise any meeting or do anything, safe too say o left that club as soon as I could have a crew of about 7 of us go too bike rally's all the time and we know everyone we know all the clubs well most of the big ones on Ireland anyway and get along great with nearly all of them we've all.been offered spots in different clubs and we've said no too them all and if anything its earned us more respect, it's all about patches and politics so with no patches we have no politics and we can do what we want

Finally! Someone on here talking sense with no bullshit. Very rarely do I comment to anything on KZbin but here i am........thanks for explaining what the the whole MC/MCC is all about. For years iv only ever wanted to be a lone rider and have turned down prospecting for a MC. Simply, dont want the politics, just ride. However changes in my life have seen a change in heart. So im going in with my local MCC, members of which iv known many years, and its just as you describe MCC's from back in the day. Iv got 12 months at least ahead of me prospecting, only men in the club and only members can wear any club regalia. Plus also none of the members are related, no 'family' control. This is the way I expect any club to operate so it did surprise me to learn there are MCC's today doing things very different. Excellent video as always, keep up the good work helping the wider world and newbies understand this world

Well a year on finally earned my colours. Received at Christmas meal. And a year on pleased to have gone through the prospecting. I’d hung around for many years previous and it was when a member and a good friend of mine suddenly died. Got me thinking that I’d like to have a part of that but just because they knew me didn’t mean anything still had to prospect. Which I did, and it gives validity to “earning” them patches. I ride with the club but also on my own all over the country and the Netherlands. Not a rally person i ride to see brothers, other clubs, family and friends all year round. My club has just celebrated 31yrs and I’m proud to be part of a club with those old skool values. Still shocks me that there are clubs out there that are willing to let wag’s and kids fly their colours. Thankfully not in my club. Excellent videos and commentary on the club scene as always Catch you again, Iv got a 1100 to rebuild.......

Look at patches and location as you would generals in the military. Front patch MMC = 1 Star General. Front side patch MCC take things more serious and rank like a 2 Star General, Back Side Patch MC is like 3 Star Generals, Single centre back patch with or without a rocker a 4 Star Generals and at the top of the heap are the 5 star Generals which are the 3 piece Back Patch 1%er MC's. That's about the simplest i can put it without going into this issue too technically. H&R

I totally agree with "wives and children" getting patches just for numbers! The club I associate with has a rule, if you don't prospect, you don't get a patch. I fix bikes and was honoured with a patch for what I do for the club, I am not allowed to wear it or participate in club business. The patch hangs in my shop like my Country's flag and they both get 100% respect! Thanks Dibber for excellent videos!

Good video, thank you! No way our MCC would accept friends and family members etc. No way we’d accept members who have no license or bike. No way we would handle our cuts carelessly. I've now left the club and it saddens me to see my old club go downhill, it looks now is if they don't have any respect for their patch and that could be down to the fact that it is given out to people who have not earned the right to wear it. anyway bro much LH&R

I'm in the states. What you're talking about in regards to MCCs sounds a lot like RCs (Riding Clubs) here. Here as well, MCs and RCs are a world apart. RCs sometimes require prospecting, but not normally. RCs typically do not have club houses or mandatory church, rides, runs, etc. it's more of a social club sort of thing. Show up if and when you want to kind of thing. RCs typically have a one piece back patch and MC typically (not always) have a three piece. You will see "MC" on the back of MCs, but you typically will not see "RC" on the back of RC members. Most RCs have officer positions who are elected like MCs, but not with the same level of dedicated club business in mind. The big difference is RCs typically have very little if anything to do with the local dominant, there's usually not much protocol involved at all. However, MCs have to play by the MC world protocol rules.

RC clubs in the UK don't wear back patches, RC only fly a front patch and the absolute majority of these clubs don't have an MC or MCC structure internally either as those types of clubs go RC to separate themselves from the back patch politics. H&R

I belong to an old school mcc where there are no women members and you have to prospect for up to 12 months if just one full patch member doesn’t like you or think you are good enough you do not get in, we have a structure like an Mc and even support our local Mc and we only wear our patch and our support patch, that tell you who we are and who we support, not where we have been or rally’s we have been too, that in its self puts us under a lot of scrutiny from other clubs, but we are respected by many mccs and mcs alike and we members are loyal to our club and i wouldn’t want to change that, so rock on to old school mcc clubs

If for instance my club was part of a Coalition or an Alliance and put on a small support patch of the senior MC, no problem what so ever as long as it wan't on the back of the cut and well away from the clubs own patch, Coalition or an Alliance t-shirt no problem, it shows other clubs which Coalition or an Alliance you're part of. If they came in with rally patches of other clubs on their cut i wouldn't like it, you only advertise your own club on your cut H&R

agree 100% too many mcc`s now just patching members at the drop of a hat. We have a hang around period normally 6 months and the prospect for up to 12 months. If after that the club agrees then colours are earned. To start our club we had o approach our local MC and get sanctioned by them and if we started "giving" out colour they would soon say something Im sure :)

Needs to be a proper M C otherwise all the values, structure and respect are at risk.. Didn't MCC used to only mean Motor Cycle Club years ago? My volume is playing up ..what does MCC mean today, anything different? Prospecting is best because you can get a real feel of if you are going to fit in, get on and have the spare time to devote to a club.. I was a prospect for a while and learned I didn't have the time to spare but the location was a 40 mile round trip away ever week.. Now I just have an owners patch and no one bothers me..

No-one in the club scene in here is going to name clubs when put like that, to name a club being the best they would be basically saying the rest are not any good. Get out to bike events and rallies and meet them, then decide which is the best fit for you. What may be considered as good club to one person may not be with another.

As i've already said many times in my videos, not everywhere is the same which is why you should always ask local clubs about the rules in their areas. I travel extensively across Europe and i see all sorts of configurations you'll never see here in the UK. As for their patches, that's their business, and of the clubs where they are established and not for me to make comment on.

So well put great vid.. The "Want it now" -fast ! Mentality of the 21st century, has bled into every aspect of modern life. Bike clubs, are no exception, and some MCC clubs seem to be sadly slipping down this undisciplined and casual road. MC's, [and a few MCC's] thankfully at least ,seem to hold to the classic tried and tested club ideals and structures. IMO Abandoning high standards, will eventually lead to the devaluing, and downfall of any club.

I have no time for HOG or any group like them, bought patches are for those who don't want to work for their patch. There is only one Harley club i have any time or real respect for as they do things old school and that's The West London Harley Riders, formerly known as Wealdstone MCC, you have to work to get into that club. My local club here in Spain invited me to join. The culture here isn't like the UK - while they are what we would call an MCC they wear a back patch and hand it out to anyone they think is OK. I used diplomacy, I don't want to wear a patch that's pretty much given away, but they are really nice guys and I didn't wish to insult them by refusing. There's only one patch I'd wear anyway, I tried that years ago and got knocked back...for many are called but few are chosen.

I’m in the United States and I love are are motorcycle history and club history on how things were back in the days when clubs were just about riding brotherhood and partying....but the modern day club scene is no where how it once was and that’s there own dueing I think if some of the us clubs adopted a similar structure as how it is in the uk things would be much more peaceful because here everybody thinks it’s cool to wear a three peice patch and I dispise that because now the clubs today and the patches meaning are watered down and don’t carry there same significance if we had a similar structure and ranking system of the patches as the United Kingdom I think it would be better because every one would know who they are and deserved to be where they are instead of everyone slapping patches on there back and bringing down heat then those same people here complain when the dominant clubs in there area confront them and on top of that motorcycle profiling of the police because they don’t see the difference.love your videos very interesting hearing how other people in other country’s do things and If everybody put egos aside we could all learn from each other.

If they're not in your club anymore your SaA with the back-up of the rest of the club should be ripping them off their cuts, if they're in your club and wearing their old clubs hoodies, again you SaA should be ordering them to take them off, simple as, if they refuse then de-patch them.

Oh I'm not joining, I just didn't give them a flat out refusal because I honestly think they would feel I was insulting them. Like I say they are nice guys, very active, have a lot of good events - they just don't see a patch the same way as we do.

It wasn't the bikers or clubs involved that shut that gig down, they actually wanted it to go ahead but BLS management shut the gig down themselves as they couldn't trust Zakk to keep his mouth shut and inflame the situation. As for fans being attacked in front of the police in the streets, pure fabrication by the media to hype up the situation. Yes there were fans who were asked to turn their cuts inside out but the clubs didn't beat anyone down to force them to conform.

If a club just offered me a patch or fast tracked me to full patch i just wouldn't join them, personally i see that as an insult to everyone in the club or other patch holders who had to work for it, the moment a club offers patches without proper prospecting is the moment i loose respect for them. I was a founding member of the last club i was in, every single person who attended the formation meeting was ex patch of other clubs & everyone had to serve a period with no patches, myself included.

Local MC's should be regulating and observing the local MCCs in the area they operate. At least where I live, you have to discuss your ideas with the local MC chapter and get their blessing first. Most of the time, a local MCC will support the MC operating in that area, so why aren't the local MC questioning these kinds of acts? Why are they letting stupid shit like this happen? There's a local MCC here that does all the things you mentioned. Kids and wifes wearing patches... ridiculous.
