Thank you for making these. I've got a 707 on the way too, and this is very helpful. 🙌

HA! The track audio chaining is exactly what I was doing a few days ago, and posted a comment about. But as usual, you're still ahead of me, as I didn't know about pressing and turning the note value encoder to transpose a note by octaves in step edit. And I'm still trying to work out how you knew about the playback octave transpose using track Sel + up/down arrow, I haven't seen that ANYWHERE else but on your video! Here's another one I discovered yesterday: copy the same clip several times, then chain the clips so they play in sequence, then return to the first clip, in an infinite loop. Set them playing, then hit Note + pad to transpose, but hit it at different times during the playback with different transpositions, so it transposes different clips to different keys. The clips remember their last transpose when they come round again, so if you hit different transposes during different clips, then the original phrase plays back in alternating keys as the clips cycle. You can also live record steps into a chain of clips, to get beyond the 8 measure maximum recording length. I haven't explored this so much yet, but it seems like there's lots of potential to record a longer jam, then select the most interesting clips and shuiffle them about, by changing the chain, or copying to other tracks. That's more of a compositional process, rather than sound design, using the MC to find and replay interesting musical phrases from stuff you initially just improvised, while chucking away anything that doesn't fit. I like the idea of any technique that encourages me to just mess around initially, but then lets me review what I did, pull out anything worth developing and refine it. I know you could do this in a DAW piano roll, but working with the MC is more like working with another musician - it reframes what you play, and suggests where to go next.

Whoa thanks for the awesome comment! I found out the octave transpose that select arrow one might have been a small entry in the update manual! Actually most of my videos are made from just falling into different workflows! Thanks so much!

Thanks for these vids, super useful. I am trying to learn some 707 before it arrives in two weeks. Trying to go dawless here. That sidechain trick seemed pretty straigtforward even though i read everywhere it's a pita to sidechain with 707. For that reason I actually ordered a circuit tracks to fill that gap. Hope it wasn't for nothing. How would you go on routing those two? At first I was thinking just hooking the master out from 707 to circuit tracks but this made me think could it be more useful as insert/return... 🤔

i like using my 707 with an iPad, it's pretty nice there are so many points where you can send or return a signal from USB as well as audio inserts!

Awesome that's so convenient

How to record external synth sound into the TONE clip, to play it after as notes and use the sequence with recorded sound, like presets?

This is an absolute fantastic tutorial serie. Tnx alot. Do you know if it is possible to run the MC-707 together with the BOSS rc-505 mk2 AND a midi keyboard. There is only 1 midi in on the 707. It is easy to setup the 707 as a slave to the RC-505 via midi. But how do I get the midi keyboard to work? Br from Denmark :-)
@RonCavagnaro8 ай бұрын
Should work. Send midi out from keyboard into midi in. Send midi out to rc505mk2 if it can slave a clock

Is it possible to use the keybed of a synth into the 707 but also be controlled by the 707?
@RonCavagnaro9 ай бұрын
I believe so, i show the midi in on episode 10, probably just set the track to midi out and should work. Haven't tried
