It doesn't matter what anyones opinion of his remarkable speech is, the fact that he had the decency and courage to stand up for what HE 'no doubt' believed in and humanity is nothing short of amazing. RIP in 2018.

This is exactly why Adam's passing is such a loss. Adam and the Boys used every chance they have been alotted to express their passionate views. What a treasure he was. I'm so thankful for the work he did but terribly sad he lost his battle against cancer.

In the 1999 VMAs, he spoke up against the rape and SH that happened at Woodstock 99. He wanted artists to create a safe space for women and girls. And Chris Rock made a lame joke after that.

Imagine he said this today. People would be like “OHHH he’s a CeLeBrItY he’s so oUt Of ToUcH why do musicians have to get political blah blah blah. I applaud people with a platform speaking out for what’s right.
@JunJunH2 жыл бұрын
Beastie boys called out the people blaming and attacking Asians when Covid started spreading. Idiots started getting upset that they were getting "political." As an Asian American, I really respected them for that and this was before I got into their music. Now that I dig their music, I love them even more seeing this stuff. Richard Gere did something similar when he spoke against what China was doing to Tibet, but his career sadly was damaged.

One world one humanity. Given the BB's intelligent openness to and creative sampling of all forms of music it makes sense his conscience would compel him to condemn indiscriminate violence against any country.

Every 9/11 I think of this video. I was a punk kid when I saw it live. It stuck with me then & honestly it didn't surprise me when 9/11 happened except that it took so long after our involvement in the M.E. since the early 90s. I love living in the USA, tho I love history too. I hope we stop getting involved in places with cultures we don't understand because I really don't want this history to repeat itself

The Beastie Boys have never condoned violence and they were always respectful, so hearing this isn't a big surprise. However, MCA had a really good message. Don't create problems with an entire nation of people just because a few extremists went nuts. Think about the innocents before you make an ass of yourself, America.

We may have opposing views on a political party but Adam was a Buddhist &wanted nothing but peace. Not many people in this world can say they've met with the Dahli Lama 3 times. Adam was so true to his passion in trying to right what was wrong but always in a peaceful manner. Not surprised, but always disappointed, to find how divided American people are. I feel sorry for people trapped in their partisanship that they feel compelled to overlook logic. Jingo is a good word for you to know.

Never condoned violence? Have you ever listened to Paul's Boutique? Perhaps it's "only lyrics", but those lyrics certainly can have an affect on young minds.
@shinjiikarir6 жыл бұрын
most of those songs they never again performed, they were kids at the time
@PodRealoaded4 жыл бұрын
And all things aside, all art should be seen as so and just that, not an instruction manual to life and how to act. Young minds shouldn't be listening to Paul's Boutique, so it is the person in charge's fault for them catching any bad lessons.
