3 years after this interview, he was diagnosed with cancer. 3 years after that, he died at the very young age of 47. Moral of the story?....Live well, enjoy life, spread love and don't stress over bullshit...you never know when it's your time to go

Ive been on a beastie binge lately..... getting Yauch or adrock to speak is like pulling teeth. MikeD is the only one who seems to speak without someone dragging it out of them. Its crazy how these 3 guys who became so huge seem to want to say so little.
@JanG8593 жыл бұрын
They didn't like the limelight too much. Then again a lot of stars don't. Damon Albarn of Blur hated press interviews. Most of these stars are pretty private, it's their art and their constructed persona they want out there, not their actual selves. That said Beastie Boys did it better than most, by just hijacking interviews and interjecting complete bullshit into them to hilarious effect. "We recorded this album on a research vessel in the Antarctic, we took a submarine out and recorded whale sounds, My uncle from switzerland shot these videos" etc.

@@JanG859 they came off as real idiots upon license to ill's release. They were far from it. Quite intelligent actually.

Seeing them in the 80's was great but seriously seeing them in the 90's and early 2000's was legendary because they had so many great songs and switched things up often and still remained great is very hard to do. Thank goodness for the Beastie Boys.

@@MightyAsh It's kind of complicated, the Beastie Boys used to be named The Young Aborigines with Mike D, John Berry, Jeremy Shatan, and Kate Schellenbach, when Shatan left, he was replaced by MCA and changed their name to the Beastie Boys, and Berry is credited with the name. But yeah, MCA was a vital part of the group and the Beastie Boys couldn't continue without him
