You're amazing. I've literally spent like 3 hours trying to figure this out. Your video helped me understand that I did practice problems and got it all right. Lifesaver.

you are correct - that was a math error on my part! A few nice commenters have pointed that out, and I'll make sure it's noted in the video! Thanks and glad you are enjoying the videos!!

For a diverging lens, I thought the (do > f ) does NOT matter because no matter what, your di will ALWAYS be negative (-). Algebraically. A negative 1/f MINUS any value will yield a negative di correct? -DDUV is mnemonic I use because diverging will always have a negative focal value, diminishing, upright, and virtual. If di is always negative, then the image is virtual, meaning magnification is upright...
@asmarabibletigrinya81434 ай бұрын
yep far as I know - di values are Upright and virtual always

A heads up to everyone who watches this video and the creator. The cross multiplication contains a small error. r=2f not 1/2f. The rest may be helpful but I stopped watching after I noticed this mistake. Regardless, thanks to this video for tackling this often difficult subject.

Thanks so much for catching that math error! I'll add a correction to the video - sometimes simple math gets the best of even us science teachers :). I do hope you found the concepts and vocabulary in this lesson useful; lenses are especially likely to show up on the MCAT, and the terminology can be tricky to keep organized. Thanks again!!
