Herbie Hancock's solo on "The Sorcerer" taught the young guys(Branford and Wynton) about the advantages of solo development, being older, and being from the generation of Jazz musicians that created the particular styling that "The Sorcerer" is a product of.

This one got a like because of the first quintet at Newport with Dizzy, Freddie Hubbard, Herbie Hancock, Ron Carter and Tony Williams. Tony was especially phenemonal on it.

I have this very performance on video tape, and it's just about worn out. THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU for posting it. This is the performance that got me interested in Jazz when I was 13 years old. It literally changed my life by starting me on a quest to go through the past & learn as much as I can about Jazz, find out what I like, find out what I love, etc. Wynton plays like a man possessed on this show, and this was also my introduction to Tony Williams. That alone was a monumental discovery for a drummer like me.
