Captured the spirit of the place! Nice calm relaxed and off season isolation and sense of domain. I go there all 4 seasons to romp in the bush and paddle the bays. Thanks for the presentation....

Paddler? My buddy and I were on a hike within a few days of this vid. Early May and we hiked from parking lot to cliff and was damp but quite passable for the most part. Vern took his camera and got some great photos of a dole of turtles on a mossy log sunbathing. Not far from the cliffs right along the trail in a slough. Great place but too busy in summer for my liking and I go to less crowded crown land. MCCrae fantastic in the other seasons for fishing and hunting and just being near water and bush. Lack of power boats a blessing and usually take canoe.

I'm in Mississauga near Square One and retired and having the time of my life. 16' Prospector that gets a lot of use at MCCrae and go up as often as the weather allows. Summer gets too busy and crowded there and I tend to go up to Lake St. Peter and hike the snowmobile trails and camp in little bush clearings. Lots of crown land but worth the drive to be where the people aren't. If you are free during the week and interested in a day paddle at MCCrae let me know. I learned my ways in the bush and on the waters over a lot of years and just glad at 70 I can still manage to do the things I love and to have the places so near.

Good video. That's what it is all about brother. A good meal and a nap in nature. Haha. Although there were so many mosquitos at McCrae this weekend I think they enjoyed a meal of me.

Haha. Yeah, they have been bad this summer so far. How is Kahshe Barrens for camping? I was in QE2 Wildlands up by Victoria Falls but didn't stay overnight. I am going to hit up Fishhog Lake on the August long weekend. That will be a first for me but with a name like Fishog how can I not go. Lol

I have never been there yet so not sure about parking or access. Going there 4-7 Aug. I may take a run out just look before then. I'll let you know what I find. I plan on parking at H1 on Jeff's map at Head lake, paddle across to head river and head up to Fishog from there. I see there is only a 100m portage. Should be nice. I am heading back to McCrae Lake tomorrow after work. Should be out there around 6pm. I got a new camera i want to try out. If you are out there this weekend I can give you my cell number. Feel free to swing by for a coffee and a chat if you like.

Anyone know how crowded it usually is here? Looking for a first time portage place with some buddies and this is looking like a great spot so far
