In todays McDojo Breakdown I had the opportunity to work with my homie Echo Charles from the Jocko Podcast as we pressure test a bad mount escape using pressure points. Enjoy :)

That was Echo. Only reason it was even a slight bit grainy at all was because of me ripping it from when he originally sent it a few years back

@1:07 is my favorite part. I love how the instructor just continues laying on his back after he topples his assailant. It's like the time Japan bombed the crap out of Pearl Harbor and then went home and disbanded the military.

Hey I was interested in getting a mcdojolife gi but when I went on the website it's says that the sale extends to dec 31st and the orders will be placed then, but then it tells me that A2 is sold out. How do I place an order for an A2 gi? do I place an order for the only size available and put A2 in the notes at checkout?

This may be an unpopular view, but I do think that directly manipulating the floating ribs can in many cases generate enough discomfort to disrupt a mount position. So the term 'pressure points' is loaded with mc dojo bullshit, so I'm going to refer, specifically to what I consider to be nerve manipulation. I have always assumed that directly manipulating nerves was a serious foul in BJJ, so I've avoided directly sticking my thumb into nerves. That said, I cant find any mention of 'jabbing fingers into uncomfortable places' in the current IBJJF rulebook, so it's apparently, at least as far as I can tell, direct nerve manipulation is OK, at least in Jiu-Jitsu. This is great news for me because when I believed that directly attacking nerves I've had to dance around the issue with 'plausible deniability'. Want proof? Check out this 'straight ankle lock'. Get a partner sit open guard to open guard. Grab your partners Tibia/Fibula at the knee and ankle. Press the hard part of your knee(Top of your fibula, below the fatty deposit below your patella) into the interior of your partner's shin approximately mid way directly compressing the tibial nerve. They will tap vigorously. You haven't touched the ankle at all, but the position would otherwise indicate your intent in that direction. I tend to slip my bottom leg under and apply my top leg at a diagonal 45.
