Where I live in the US the McDonald’s has no vegan options. We had beyond chicken at KFC for a limited time but they cooked it in the same oil as the chicken. Our Burger King has the impossible whopper which they offer to microwave instead of grill to avoid cross contamination. Our subway here just has falafel or veggie sandwiches. That’s about it.

@johnchesterfield9726
@johnchesterfield9726 2 жыл бұрын
Actually as a vegan, I’d say there’s an imperative to support the vegan options at restaurants that primarily profit off slaughtering animals. The reason for that is because by demanding for those cruelty-free products we show these businesses that we want them and will make them money when they have them on their menus. If it is successful for one restaurant that adds a new vegan item on their menu other restaurants will catch on and begin to add vegan option on their menus as well. If the demand for those cruelty-free products don’t make these businesses a lot of money then they won’t continue to make them anymore and they won’t be on their menus, meaning less people will be exposed to the idea that veganism is an option. As vegans we need to normalize veganism and make it more accessible to others, and it really helps when there is the anomalous cruelty-free option in a menu surrounded by products that took blood and violence to obtain. Besides, regular consumers of these fast food chains aren’t vegan so it is the perfect menu to add vegan products to reach more people who aren’t vegan.

@@nicoleavery7238 But the transition into a vegan society has to start somewhere. Many years ago, these wouldn't have been options anywhere. So this shows that veganism is becoming more popular and that there's now a demand for these products, when there didn't used to be. We live is a consumerism society, so the fact that it's about money isn't a bad thing itself. The companies are just supplying a demand for animal foods. As the demand changes, so will the supply.

Here in austria McDonald's has no vegan options. (Maybe in vienna they do but not in my city) And subway has even more vegan options like the meatless fajita or the meatless chicken teriyaki!. Burger king is a winner as well, especially with their new (autrian exclusive?) campaign that says "Normal or with meat" on billboards around my city. So Subway and Burger King are definitely the winners where I live.

A vegan lifestyle is the single most environmentally impactful decision a person can make in their lives. Look up the facts before you speak!

@@jahverussell2642 oh it appeals to the most gullible people but its not growing perpetually. Over 85 percent of people who 'go vegan' dont stick to it. Any arguement based on the assumption that sheep and chickens are humans is only going to appeal to the biggest dills in society. There is no evidence that switching to a vegan diet will save the world from climate change. That problem lies in the fossil fuel energy we use. To think cow burps have anywhere near the impact of electricity production and burning of vehicle fuel is just mind boggling stupidity.

Gotta agree, the McPlant is a very convincing beef burger alternative, the 'meat' has that oily wet-ness to it like a burger frying in it's meat juices. Unfortunately it isn't an option for their £1.99 Burger + Fries deal so I usually go with the Veggie Deluxe (Minus the mayo). For anyone interested in trying the veggie deluxe, make sure you ask to replace the mayo, and also don't order a veggie deluxe unless you like the dry pea-pattys Joey mentioned (Or if you're like me, and refuse to pay more than £2 on crap fast food).
