There is nothing -- NOTHING! -- like the old sound of piston-engined airliners and the whistling sound of turbojets as they come in for a landing! I remember those days very well. One of my favorite memories was laying down in bed at night as a kid, and I would stay up listening to the sound of those DC-6's, Connies, and other prop-airliners passing overhead, hearing their soft rumble pass through the darkness. In no time, that sound would put me to sleep!

Loved the VC10 at the end. I remember them flying over my house in Park Ridge on final into OHare.

I wasn't born until 1967 but nice to see planes prior to 1967 & the airlines at the time. Better days of planes than these new modern planes when pilots actually flew the plane. Excellent footage. 🙂

In my opinion, the most beautiful jetliner ever was specifically the Delta Air Lines Convair-880 (the first aircraft in this video, taxing into the gate). The entire aircraft was painted in Delta's porcelain white --- including the wings and engines! It was the only aircraft that was painted in Delta's Royal Crown livery design. In the late 1960's, Delta repainted all their 880's to the now famous Delta Widget livery. Delta retired the 880's in the early 1970's, but what a scooterbug of a jet it was! Fast & furious would aptly describe this beautiful machine.
