For those of us who missed out on the DC Universe Classics, this is a great addition to the collection. Nice to see McFarlane branching out a bit more. Here’s hoping for Big Barda and Miracle Man sometime soon.

Orion has a Mother Box that cloaks his true appearance. He has grey skin and looks like Darkseid when he’s older. He was traded to New Genesis and the Box makes him look more like those people and also supresses his rage.

The helmet looks just like his depiction in "Cosmic Odyssey" by Starlin: A must read limited series b/c of the superb, early Mignola art and a fun story w/ lasting consequences for Jon Stewart.

Mattel and macfarlane Astro harness sitting next to each other is the perfect comparison for the two lines. How can you go backwards so far in 10 years.

The helmet is perfectly accurate to Jack's design. Like to see mcfartlane take a chance with the forever people 😂❤

@@rickytoddbotelho9555 I hate that you say it’s perfectly accurate when it’s clearly not the wings are absolutely enourmous the gold line is not accurate to pretty much any of his designs and he is a pretty loose drawer. The general entire head is a disaster and not even close to a perfect representation of Kirby’s art

Well. I like the figure. But I think they messed up his helmet. Those wings could have been folded in. But I'll still buy him. dHunter, I agree with you. I don't know how Orion and Kalibak became Darkseid sons. Because they don't look nothing like their father. But Grail and Grayven do. Now I hope that Todd will make Grail and Grayven as DC Multiverse McFarlane Toys 7 inch action figures. I think that'll be really cool.

Although Orion's helmet is usually depicted with the side fins folded back, there are images of him with his helmet looking exactly like it looks on this figure. If you Google "DC Comics Orion" and go to images, one of the first pics on the top row shows Orion looking just like this. In fact the helmet is so exact that it's obviously the source material for this figure.

I got the DCUC and it feels superior in my humble opinion.

Other than using Ultraman boots, that have the same pattern and are sculpted there is nothing else that could have done different. A textured costume would look cooler, but a lot of people would complain for its "inaccuracy".

Like the character a lot; however I will skip this one because it wouldn't of been that hard to have another set of hands on a reused body. The wrist joints should have also been blue like the gloves. Cuffs and neck blue, too. Body is tall and muscular but he is almost always more bulky. Good review! Trying to get Shazam in store this week.

Raven is the daughter of Trigon and looks human. ...also, in KINGDOM COME is revealed that when he gets older he´d look more like Darkseid. Another fact is that Orion is meant to be the god of War of the New Gods. As far as accesories go as long as he comes with the astro harnet is more than enough. He never carries anything or he is associated with anything. The helmet is fine. The only way to had him look "true" to the comics would have been if he was drawn/meant to look like the Jack Kirby design. Other than that every other artist has come with their own version. As long as it resembles the helmet is fine. ...the body however is totally wrong. He´s meant to be really buffed. In fact, he should have come with either a Superman body or as extreme as a body of Superman or Batman from THE DARK KNIGHT RETURNS.

The helmet matches up with comic images. The DCUC Orion harnes is a cheat as they didn't give him hands that grip.

Yeah Bro, those paternity test are weird. Same dad two moms. One for love, another one forced. Kids came out looking weird. The entire story is all FCk up. Kind of like a Jerry Springer episode. Good review now to the paint booth.

I saw this at a target the other day but am not family with him. He looks like he comes from Masters of the Universe. Thanks for description of what this character is about. Ambush Bug was pet warming at that store too. Maybe I will get one of him even though not familiar. I like his story of him trying to do good but has some mental disorder.

Look up DC Comics' Fourth World series written and drawn by Jack Kirby (the guy who pretty much created or co-created the entire early Marvel Universe in 1961).

To see how different Orion is drawn check out these examples...and, funny enough, while the overall costume changes as well, is the helmet the one that varies the most: -in the animated movie JL GODS AND MONSTERS. And this is Bruce Timm drawing him differently than when he did in JL Unlimited. -in New 52 Wonder Woman -Mister Miracle comic (Mitch Gerads) -drawn by Walter Simonson -in Hal Jordan and the GL Corps by Rafa Sandoval -in Morrison´s JLA the helmet looks similar to the figure.

Darkseid didnt alway look like that . he only turned rocky when he absorced the omega effect. Orion was the product of the only person darkseid loved. His mother had her killed which drove him to absorb the omega effect and take the throne. He was the second son not in line for the throne

Darkseid used to look more human when he was younger, he changed over time. As to how or why he physically changed i don't know.

So I'm thinkin maybe Darkseid slept with a human probably a slave which is how Orion came to be and maybe the reason why he chose good over evil from how his mother was treated..all speculation though Kalibahn only confirms Darkseid was a rolling stone who kept and slept with a variety of women lol

I goggled it seen one image that the helmet sort of look like this but it’s not straight up and down it has a curve to it that points close to head. Whoever sculpted the helmet needs to be fired because there’s plenty of references/sources they could draw from I don’t know what happened but maybe I’m wrong….

Orion took after his mother, Heggra, whom was more human looking. But he took his father's face, as Orion's face is ugly. Kalibak has a different mother than that of Orion. Kalibak's mother was Suli, who looks like Kalibak facially, while Kalibak got Darkseid's body.
