It’s so crazy that there’s just a handful of reasonable adjustments that McF could have made and this would have been a GOATed figure out of the box

This is great thank you for the tutorial on removing the cowl. If you want to take it one step farther what I did immediately was get a shorter barbell peg for the neck. The head sits lower and gives it more of a one-piece look!

Now you done a really great job on this figure, looks fantastic Les. Also showing how you did it was brilliant ( show more of that). By the way, took your advice and did a custom stand and a backdrop for Blondie from a few dollars more!!! Might show on a up and coming video. 😊
@LesWalker2023 Жыл бұрын
Yay! For Blondie!!! And thanks! I put a lot of love in this little figure. But also the result of years. I do think ole Keaton is my favorite LOOKING Batman, and Affleck and Pattinson have had the best fights and moments. But I have an almost emotional response to Keaton's Batman. Must be layovers from 1989! 😉

I was going to do a plether cape for mine but I just decided to cut the stock cape in the front and overlap where I cut it which in turn pulls the cape over the shoulders creating the look McFarlane had in the promo images, and through the black outline on the emblem and I'm more than happy with it how it is! the black outline on the emblem makes all the difference in the world with how the figure looks, I did that first and was totally satisfied with just that alone because that was the only thing bugging me then I did the cape later for shits and giggles!
@LesWalker2023 Жыл бұрын
That's a fine solution! I do know that emblem needed the black rim. Why they missed that, and got it on other figures, like the Three Jokers Batman figure, is beyond me. An obvious mistake. Anyway, glad you have the figure you wanted! It's a great one!
@buzzsawgr81 Жыл бұрын
I just got the 6-pack and the '89 batman's cape not wrapping all the the way around like it should to get that classic drape look is really my only complaint. you can almost get it with the stock cape, but not quite.

Nice job but I am scared on breaking my only 89 batman figure!
@LesWalker2023 Жыл бұрын
No worries! That's one reason I said how nice he is out of box. I would be fine with one like that. Redoing them is a risk I often take. But it is still a superior figure as is! Don't take chances if you are worried. He still totally rocks the shelf! (And to me, he is still better than the more expensive ones out there! To me...😉)
@raysyo Жыл бұрын
Amazing job! Where did you get the cape?! Thanks
@LesWalker2023 Жыл бұрын
Batgirl31 on Ebay. Look her up! You can also look up 1/12 Batman capes or capes for McFarlane Batman figures and there are several epic cape makers selling great wares! OT Customs and others. But this one happens to be by Batgirl31. She is inexpensive and the quality is always excellent.If you shop for the one she did for the Flash Batman figure, it works well.

I don’t have the 6 pack one I have the Batmobile version. I replaced the cape with the GPslot wired pleather cape. The Batsymbol is gold. I want to repaint it yellow but should I base coat it white first so the yellow hue comes out correctly or can I just paint the yellow over the gold?
@LesWalker20232 ай бұрын
I would at least paint the white in. And when you do the yellow, if using Vallejo acrylic colors, mix deep yellow with a small bit, a drop or two depending on how much you mix, of Wood Grain brown. It needs that to make the golden yellow hue you are looking for. Then, paint that in over the white, in at least two coats so it's rich. Thin coats. Not thick and gloppy. When totally dried, TAKE YOUR TIME, and rim the black back in on the bat and outer rim. When that is dried, coat it with a clear glosscoat like Intermediate Gauzy or at least a nice clear gloss varnish. But thin! You can always layer. Let me know how it goes.

This is fantastic. I'm working on mine at the moment and repainting the face, but really struggling to get those lips to be as pert and 'Keaton-esque' as you have! Any tips for painting the lips would be highly appreciated! Great work as always man!
@LesWalker20236 ай бұрын
Had to look at the figure and think about it a minute (it has been a while), If I can tell, it looks like I used a slightly darker mix of the lip color (a paint mix, not from a bottle) then, when dried, "trimmed" that shape in with the regular skintone, to edge it how I wanted it. Use a small point brush! Then I came back with a slightly lighter lip mix and hit the inner areas, careful to leave the darker tones around the edges, defining the shape. Hope that helps!

Nice work, what material is the new cape made of?
@LesWalker2023 Жыл бұрын
A NICE pleather is all I know. It is fabric lined, and in person, doesn't show the under fabric pattern as much as it does in the closeups of this video, so I didn't even see that surface until I shot it. In person, just looking at it, it looks very smooth. Coulda had more leathery tooth, but I am ok with how it matches the figure so well. But for what it is, gotta ask Batgirl31. 🙂
