McFarlane's Batman & Robin Movie Figures BATGIRL and ROBIN hand REPAINTED!

Following up on the George Clooney Batman redo video, I show my just arrived BATGIRL and ROBIN from the amazing McFarlane movie build a figure set, totally repainted and ready for action!
The Four figure build a set is a wonder of epic toy proportions! The four main figures, Batman, Robin, Batgirl and Poison Ivy, with the build up of Mr Freeze, is a FANTASTIC set of figures! I could not wait to get my paint brushes out and going on these!
Note: ALL these figures, are HAND REPAINTED with Vallejo Acrylic paints and sealed with Mr Hobby Mr Super Clear MATT finish spray! No airbrushing of any kind was used to do this work!
The Robin got the dark metallic suit treatment, with a darker blue than the Batgirl. He has a reddish cape interior, and repainted metallic shoulders over the somewhat tomato red it was in the box. The boxed figures are nice, but the colors make the characters, so I hope my redo of him is better!
Batgirl got the same basic blue shade as my previous Batman figure, and even though I wanted to do a poseable wired cape for her, I chose to stick with the amazing cape she came with! It was enough, so I did the interior of it in a slightly lighter, more brilliant silvery blue, more like the ice suit version, so it would help her body stand out more.
Repainted the face and hair, and added her little black beauty mark.
I hope to repaint the Poison Ivy soon, as she needs much less work than the others. Just some added details and some hair enrichment, and she's done.
Mr Freeze however, will need a lot of work. I hope to get all the undergarments repainted, and the shading the figure needs badly. Then I will chrome all the armor parts, and re-blue the glowing bits that are a bit flat.
After that, I will add his power box on his back, and add as many of his hoses as the figure will let me add.
Repaint his gun, and he is done!

Feel a lot more like I remembered! Just got in Bats/Robin yesterday from Amazon and immediately noticed the gloss legs on matte with Batman etc. etc. Great work man!

Thanks. I had to get past that weird airbrushed brown swath that McFarlane painted on the hairline. It was a little weird.

These figures, along with the movie 6 pack? A huge huge HUGE nostalgia hit for me. See, when I was a kid, we had figures, sure.. but not much articulation, and those weird hard rubber capes. Kinda sucks, that McFarlane went with those style capes, instead of cloth capes. I'm sure you can easily get some fabric, and do custom jobs? But the fact is, we shouldn't have to do the work for the companies who should've just done it in the first place. These figures are the ones I dreamed of as a kid, they're exactly what I wanted. But could never get. Because obviously stuff like this didn't entirely exist back then. I'm also somewhat contradicting myself though, because alot of Marvel figures, were doing the whole "super poseable" thing already. So why some companies were so far behind? I don't know.

Total agreement. However, have you noticed how McF is doing wired cloth capes now? They are watching. I have several re-caped figure videos and they all show mostly, what I did, which was simple. So, McF is now (trying to) doing it too. They have to. It's Toy Evolution, and that has to happen or customers will back off and not buy. McF, ie., "cheaper figure companies" will get there. We shouldn't have to pay $90 or more for a 6 to 7 inch figure with a wired cape, cloth, leather, whatever. $25 figures can have that. And, I enjoy the nostalgia too. Good to read some fun comments. What paints did you use for batgirl and robin

Using Vallejo Model Color acrylic paints, I mixed a concoction of Ultramarine blue, Violet, Oily Steel and Black, all flats. Try testing on a surface and mix the blue w a very small part violet with Oily steel and black. It makes an unusual effect when done correctly. I used more GUNMETAL Blue and less violet with Robin as he is a darker color. It was several months back and I do not remember. I mix as I go. There was no formula. Remember, Robin is less pure blue than Batman or Batgirl, who are the same shades. I accented belt, emblems and highlights with Intermediate Gauzy agent to gloss parts to stand out.

I made it. I made an exhaustive search at fabric stores, and found the material (two in fact, as I wasn't sure which shade of blue was really gonna work best!) and just came back and matched the paints to it, as best I could. The shade was the trick. And the satiny look and feel. And the tight weave. It is a tad stiff, but with wires, it still works. (see my previous Clooney Batman vid for more info!) Best of luck!
