My experience was very similar to yours. I didn’t particularly care for the figure from the initial reveals, to the in hand pictures, to the You Tube reviews, and all the way to seeing it on the pegs. However, my “policy” is to always pick up a couple of figures from a new line and wait until I have them in my hands to pass final judgement. Like you, the more time I spent with the figure, the more I liked it. Now it’s probably my favorite Batman figure next to the DC Icons version which I absolutely love for some reason.

Plus, McFarlane is still experimenting with his articulation system. This is a very early figure in the line. The wave two figures are already an improvement.

Pretty good looking Batman figure honestly. I like that McFarlane didn’t go overboard sculpting the muscles. Almost all Batman figures end up with biceps and quads like Ronnie Coleman.

agreed. at first, i only ordered for the Nightwing. but after reviews and reviews from all the reviewers, this Batman Detective #1K definitely a best figure for my batman collection alongside with my current top one From Neca. Also agreed with the torso cuts. Mcfarlane should reconsider the opinion in future. and the other 1 point that i should agreed too is from shartimus prime, they should add an extra knuckle hands for Batman.

I still think the head is too small. The source material on the card has a better proportioned head. Clearly this won't be McFarlene's only take on Batman. Hell. It wasn't even their only take on Batman in this wave of figures. I like the overall look, but just wish the proportions were better.

Being a fan of Batman and the fact that I own the Batman 1000 comic makes me thrilled this was my first McF purchase and certainly not the last. This and the Joker made its possible for me to go get a few of the Metal figures and the Bane CAC figure.

That's not a bad looking Batman figure. I like how his little piggies move up so you have that extra pose ability. Can't wait for the look at Harley Quinn also.

I really like the McFarlane Toys DC Multiverse Detective Comics #1000 Batman figure. That's coming from someone who has never seen the initial reveal. The sculpt and mesh work are pretty good. The paint application is decent, minus a few areas. However, there are a few issues. The gap that's at the upper torso is quite jarring. Also, the rope that's sticking out of the grapple gun ends up looking a bit odd because its solid sculpted plastic instead of actual rope material, which would've worked a lot better. For some reason, the mesh work is unfinished at the chest area. This is still a pretty good Batman figures, despite a few stumbling blocks along the way. Otherwise, thanks Spot. Keep it up!

You always are thorough in your reviews, and you compel me to at least think on getting this figure. He does look cool, and I am considering it, as much for the 1000th issue thing as for the figure itself. I like the design of him, and am really fond of it, but it does resemble several other black and grey, big black chest bat figures I already have. Gotta think on it. Thanks for another great review!

I know people are mixed on it but I absolutely love this Batman figure...its 1000x better then anything the precious DC Multiverse by Mattal line ever released. I have very hope hopes that we are going to finally get the amazing DC line we have needed for years. Nice review bro!

I’ve picked up the 3 animated figs: GL, Supes and Bats. I experienced the same thing you did. Having them in hand they grew on me. I took some pics with John Stewart that I’m absolutely loving. Just picked up this Batman b/c I’ll need one to scale with Nightwing when I find him.

The face looks a little like the anime version. I wish it had come with a cloth cape. Otherwise I’m pretty impressed with it. Like the Superman even better. Thanks for the review.

I feel his head either needs to be bigger(also little less cartoony compared to the other comic figures) or the chest section narrower to fix the proportional issues. Legs and trunks remind me of Arkham Asylum/Arkham City. Least the legs look better than Superman's.

Great review. I got this figure also. It is good, but not great. One sticking point is I don't like how the ankles are done. It is awkward especially when trying to ankle pivot.

Been on the fence about these figures since they started popping up in stores. I love the DC Essentials figures, and these figures are in the same scale. But to be honest, the McFarlane figures seem to be just a notch below DC Essentials. The abdominal cut looks terrible on Bats, it makes him look like he’ s wearing a ragged shirt over his uniform. His heads too small and his cowl is supposed to cover his nose. This mask looks like it shrunk a little in the wash. The bat symbol is enormous! All that being said, I think I will get him anyway just to see if he will grow on me as it did for you. I do like his coloring a lot, the belt is beautiful and the mesh weave along the side of his suit is a nice touch. The cape is gorgeous, wish they did that in the DC Essentials Bats! Hellbat armor is the one really want in this line!!!

Honestly the figure looks great as a stand alone figure. Most figures aren’t perfect. My biggest issue is the size of the head more than the actual look. It just affects the scaling with other figures. Oh and the pointy nose.

This is basically the overall most classic version of the batsuit where its just a grey body suit with a black bat symbol on the chest. Ben Afflecks costume is based on the classic design but mostly influenced by the way it appeared in the dark knight returns by Frank Miller.
