There is literally no way to make these wearable if they are affordable hard plastic. And besides, if you’re a grown man then why would you want to wear this? I used to wear my Batman costume when I was a kid but I’m now 35, why would I want to use it to wear??

It’s called contracts. WB have contacts with other companies to make wearable Batman cowls. That’s the reason

I got the PureArts 89 cowl a while back, which is great, but pricey for sure. If I didn't have that, this would still probably be a nay for me because of the inaccuracies, but still cool to see it made and have a more affordable price point.

Would you consider this for your custom collectibles series? I’m wondering if a bit of a matte finish along with maybe adding the battle damage from the bell tower scene could really make this POP! And at that low price, the stress level of ruining it is off the table.

I kinda get the appeal of this 1989 cowl as a display piece but if it’s non wearable then what’s the point? The cosplay market is incredibly lucrative for a brand like DC so this feels like a missed opportunity.

This one I had to get. I had the original WB cowl back in college and sold it when I needed some cash. Always missed it. Although non-wearable, this will bring it back into my life. Will pick and choose beyond this one.

Agree mate,would have liked the 66 Cowl first..this one will look awsome displayed on top of the Jazzinc Batmobile..I was thinking if sculpting a mouth piece and eyes into it!.Do ya know if Popcultcha is going to stock it?

I was born in 1988. I first got into Batman because of the Animated Series, since I was automatically a fan of anything and every animated series on FOX in the early 90’s. I watched Batman Returns shortly after it became available on VHS then soon after, my mom rented Batman 89 for me. Since I was a kid, I always liked the Batman Returns soon a lot more than the 89 suit. I like that the cowl is a better fit, smoother texture and it has a more menacing look. Therefore, I’m not bothered at all by the smooth texture in this cowl. The primary thing that bugs me is the emblem, the one thing you’d think they’d get right. I preordered it and I’m super excited for the cowl. But but, that emblem bro.

I just hope that with the Kilmer cowls they do both the “Panther” suit and the Sonar suit because I’m disappointed that with the wave of “Forever” figures they only did Kilmer’s sonar suit. It’s not a bad suit by any means, but it pales in comparison to the first suit he wears in that movie. So to have both options of that sleek black cowl with the gold emblem and the silver sheen of the sonar suit would be great and *cough* would put more money in Mcfarlane Toys’ pockets. *cough* *cough*

I'll only pick up two cowls, this one and "Returns" cowl although I'm interested to see if there's much difference between the two as you mentioned this one seems more like Returns in terms of style and texture. Might also pick up the Pattinson cowl as well

@Zapwhampow66 this is false, Bob Ringwood has stated publicly he changed the emblem on the costume.... he wanted it to look different than the classic one ( like on the 66 suit ) which he stated looking like a cartoon of an open mouth.... he added the little feet at the bottom.

It's $99 on the Mcfarlane store so I know shipping is nuts there so I did a comparison anyway.... something just ain't right here.... I'm from South Africa and shipping to here is crazy! So the cowl is R1800 but the shipping! The cheapest I got was R7000! So that's roughly R9000 to ship this to SA from Mcfarlane store. Crazy man! There is actually a notification on BBTS explaining why they are charging $159... shipping. So, from BBTS, it's roughly R3000 for me, excluding shipping.

Not quite accurate though. Especially its texture. The edges that go over the cape should be pointier. It may look good displayed with the NECA accessories. An affordable display piece. Or spend some extra and go with a Reevz FX instead, which is wearable and cast from the original.

Hard pass. The detail, as you said, is lacking in an unacceptable way for $160 USD. I am particularly turned off by how rounded off the points around the neck are. This is only worth about a hundred bucks.
