Very solid review for a very solid premium figure. The classic is the one I got and I haven't opened it yet. There are definitely some issues with these figures but overall they do look great. Todd has always been kind of a cocky guy but he's a good business man and delivers a lot of value to the market. Hopefully, he learned something that will make his next Kickstarter a better experience.

I think a soft goods cape for Spawn, at least, would be a terrible idea... However, I do wish this figure had the removable cape that they promised initially, and I wish they were able to give us the abdomen articulation that they originally planned for the figure as well. I remember one of the early prototypes they showed had the ab crunch feature and it looked solid, so I'm not sure why they scrapped that idea. I bought the 3-pack which arrived last week... So if you are waiting on your order it should arrive soon.

How is 40 dollars stupid expensive when most deluxe collectibles at that caliber are 60+. Personally i like everything about this collectible, i will hate the "if the figure has less then 40 points of articulation it is trash and unacceptable" mentality that has completely taken over the collectible community. Especially sense most of the people that complain about it, put there stuff in a generic pose on the shelf and do not touch it for years. For me less is more and i just want it to look good on a shelf and if i can make some crazy pose with it and get creative then that is cool but nothing i demand for.

I bought the three pack and I already sold two of them. I'm really really really disappointed with this figure. I hate how his torso is pre posed, I hate how limited his upper torso and arms are so limited , and I really really hate hate the cape. It's just a drag... I'm really disappointed I invested so much money into the kickstarter. I've learned my lesson though. Never again with a McFarlane kickstarter. I kind of feel cheated. I remember seeing old videos McFarlane posted and the figure being way more poseable. He also promised the cape was removable. Nope it's not. He straight up lied about alot of shit. And frankly I'm a little upset. This is clearly not what he promised in multiple videos.

It's only around $70usd in USA which is a good price for it... but for the people outside USA, this thing costs around $150 or more after tax and shipping and that's way too much for a McFarlane statue

Cape can be removed (absolutely not designed to be removed) by heating up (a lot) the area where the skulls are and the upper back. There will be peg holes and will look ugly if not taken off carefully and without proper heating. I've taken it off and added a cloth cape which hides the ugly peg holes (2 in the front and one in the back), but if you do break the peg in the back you won't be able to put the stock cape back on

It'd be kinda cool to see someone remove the gigantic cape backpiece and replace it with soft goods in tandem with the molded collar/shoulder bit, but this would be a very expensive piece to just go and customize.

It's definitely not a good action figure! But it is an amazing collector's piece and wasn't that expensive if you purchased the 3 pack. It was 189 for three, which is $63 for each spawn. I think it's worth the money since it comes with a nice package, comic, and signed autograph. Although, if people bought them separately then I can see how people claim they are expensive.

I’m not that thrilled with certain aspects of the figure but I love it overall. As an artist I appreciate it for what it is. Then again when it comes to Spawn figures I’m slightly closer to form over function so I didn’t really feel let down at all. I even started recollecting some older Spawn figures and I’m not mad that they have limited articulation at all. These figures are works of art! They’re not just toys! And I do not get ppl saying this figure can’t pose or that they got cheated. If you wanna see how this guy can pose checkout my video on my channel (not trying to plug or solicit that’s why I’m not including a link lol). An argument can be made that McFarlane lied through omission about the removal of the cape, but aside from that... what in the hell did he lie about lol? Anyone who was sore about this figure or felt like Todd was ignoring them had plenty of time to cancel their pledge by he end of the campaign. Why are ppl having so much trouble stepping out of their bubble and accepting the possibility that there were just as many ppl who were happy with what they got and didn’t feel cheated at all? All the articulation & cloth goods-heads don’t speak for everyone in this community lol.

We don't get anywhere near this much for the same price. But I completely agree with you on wishing the Cape could come off. That's the only extra ask I have for this figure.

I took the Cape off mine and put a cloth cape from Ebay on him...Made an already incredible figure perfect...Definitely not a fan of that plastic cape...Looks nice but for an articulated figure is a detractor..

Damn man! That's crazy to think there's still ppl out there that haven't received their figures yet. I got my set weeks ago, and I thought _I_ had to wait a ridiculously long time. So yeah, I just thought everyone has gotten theirs long by now. I'm guessing you probably ordered a bunch of them. It looks like they're shipping out via smallest to largest quantities. Really hope you get that tracking number very soon.

I think the neck is dark enough for the gap to not be too noticeable. Might be different in person, though. For me, the two main niggles are: the sculpted "mouth" (if it was really "classic" it would pretty much be a smooth full face mask; I always got the impression the original costume was cosmetically spandex), and the "V" of the "M" (does that make sense?) stops abruptly at the waist. On a final note: has there ever been a Spawn figure with a cloth goods/wired cape?

I get a weird feeling that the sculpted head was based more on the Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn. He had very pronounced skull teeth on his mask.

Great business decision with Todd including the classic unmasked head with the modern, and vice versa...making you have to buy both to recreate the original toy/their battle damaged look from Batman. Still weird zipper face didn't come with the appropriate body. And something that was really awesome that I didn't know before getting my set the other week, is no twisty ties or those even more annoying non-twisty tie bands that NECA now uses. Despite with all its questionable design choices, it still has a gloriously magnificent presence.

Very good, in-depth review. I have the 10th Anniversary Spawn and MK 11, so I felt I really didn't need this. It looks like an awesome collectible, but not the best action figure of Spawn available.

For everyone here who feels screwed over by Todd failing on giving people the action figure they deserved I highly recomend going to sombody who does custom figures. I'll be real they are a bit exspensive but its only a one time purchase that should cover you for years versus constantly buying mediocre figures from a man who doesnt care about his clientel and spending more money in the long run. I know someone doing a custom for me if anyones interested.

It was a Kickstarter figure kind of like web exclusive I guess. Now it's on eBay or mercari going for like 180 - 200+. Look up Kickstarter spawn on either site. He is making a medieval spawn through Kickstarter as well idk when though

Yep now its Ebay aftermarket sellers only. McFarland said his Medieval Spawn is suppose to have fully metal armor on his next Kickstarter. I'd expect that one to be worth even more than this one just for the armor alone.

Todd only added the arm and leg articulation to try to shut us up but that didn't work so he just proceeded to ignore us when we pleaded for him to change the torso to a straight one or with an ab crunch. A lot of us also asked for a soft goods cape included and that got ignored too. He put out the figure he wanted to put out and said "fuck y'all". A lot of us should not have supported it but we did. Hopefully the next Kickstarter he does isn't as successful so that he gets the point. I'm definitely not supporting the next one. I may or may not keep my figure when it gets here.

It didn't come with the spiked club either. The only way to get that accessory with any of them is if you bought the trilogy pack. I had zero interest in the artist proof one, but just had to have me that club. It would've been cool if we got an updated version of that original spiked board accessory. I know the club is supposed to be the updated version, but it's definitely not the same at all.

I'm happy I skipped out on this one. That torso is awful and you can see it was designed as a statue first and an action figure second. Unreal that MacFarlane is still doing this in 2021. Here's to hoping he does a proper action figure of comic book Spawn in the future. At least the video game version is designed as a proper action figure but I want a comic Spawn. We know MacFarlane toys can do it right. This thing is just a step in the wrong direction. Sorry.

Jared, best review of the spawn kickstarter I have seen. I bought in for the classic and modern 2-pack. I appreciate its presentation and Todd holding true to what Is Todd Toys. The Al head is the best. I also have a couple Mk11 so if I I want articulation and a different take I can indulge. The 3-pack did have the gold signature and a couple other a accessories. Mine is red. And I do not have a second updated assault weapon. I wish he would of included fists at least one pair(per purchase). Also all the necroplasm effects per purchase. Regardless I am in general happy with what I supported. Be Well.

For me, it's the giant neck hole and the way the heads/necks are done is my biggest issue...the non meant to be detachable cape is second. If it was just a normal sized neck hole and all the heads had normal looking necks with articulation, that'd make things profoundly better for me. But yeah, if the figures also had ball jointed upper (non dynamic sculpted) torsos, that would've been very nice and normal. Todd's not about normal. So a lot of times they gotta sacrifice common sense for the sake of being different.
