2021 CLASSIC SPAWN Kickstarter by McFarlane Toys

Every toy company can learn a thing from Todd on this figures release, specifically the packaging/shipping. Figure is triple boxed with double-walled boxes and there was hard plastic corner protectors in the box as well (you know, like the ones Hasbro said they were going to include in the $500 HasLab Sail Barge...but didn’t, so everyone’s boxes got all beat to shit). He said he spent an extra $70,000 on beefing up the shipping boxes and it shows. The actual box itself with the scratch-proof high grade finish, foil accents, the clamshell with multiple layers of plastic inserts contained within, the custom foam inserts for the accessories and of course the figure and all the accessories and the comic. This figure has an elite level presentation that would see in a $100+ figure...and it only cost $40. Unreal. Also, let’s not forget that even though this figure was “delayed”, I’m pretty sure he still set another KickStarter record for having this figure in people’s hands 9-10 months after the campaign ended as I’ve never seen a Kickstarter figure get into people’s hands that quick. I REALLY hope he does Medieval Spawn in the EXACT same way as he did this one, as well as ideally doing the rest of the first series remastered in this same fashion as that would be one hell of a display. Bravo Todd, you fucking killed it. Also, for some reason a lot of people think he made a “ton of money” on this Kickstarter. He didn’t. The only real profit he made was on the autographed figures because they were $20 more for the autograph. He didn’t raise $3.5M and then decided what to make, he literally just offered a $40 figure up for preorder but used Kickstarter as the platform. Every time he added stuff to the figure, which of course increased the cost...he never added any charge to go with it, it was still the same $40 figure. Anyone that’s been collecting long enough and knows some things about tooling, production and the toy industry at large, knows that this figure easily cost over $30 to make...

This figure is what really got me into Spawn, I always remembered seeing spawn figures in comic shops and Toys R Us but never had any, I remember my dad had Mandarin Spawn and the Violator, but this and the Mortal Kombat Spawn were my first figures of the property, and I really wish I had more money cause I want them all now!! 😭

My favorite spawn figure is the one I finally found when i was in college. Found the mortal kombat 7 (i think thats it) spawn on the very back of the shelf at game stop. I kick myself for passing on all the vintage ones in the day

Todd MacFarlane is a masterful artist. I hope he gets a Spawn animated series deal w/ Netflix or something, because I liked the old HBO series back in the day as a kid (even though it had pacing problems). And ultimately I hope we get an R-rated, big budget live-action Spawn movie w/ Todd in control of it.

@CIA Informant 1234566533256666 Only an idiot wouldn't know that Spawn is already "diversified". There's a back man behind the mask of Spawn (Al Simmons) & every character isn't "lily white" (unlike in most mainstream comics). And I'm sure if Todd signed w/ Netflix he'd be smart enough to ensure that he has complete creative control (which is probably the reason he hasn't inked a deal). And you must be a kid, because HBO set a precedent for adapting mature comics into animated form, hence the reason they gave Spawn his own animated series in the 90s.

The head articulation is my biggest gripe. The gap is too big for me. And not a fan of it being pre posed. Overall it's a cool figure. I want a classic look with mk spawn articulation. Meantime I'm happy with my mk spawn.

Yeah I think for those looking for more articulation, the MK 11 spawn is perfect For them. And agreed The head thing is more noticeable on the masked head, unmasked fits better in the space. Thanks for watching

Awesome review I got mine two weeks ago. I live in Virginia. I got the two three packs. As of now I have left one of the three packs alone didn’t break the tape. The other one I have opened and have looked at each figure still in there packs. I’m thinking I will open them and keep the other three sealed in the long box. I just don’t want to break that Todd McFarlane tape if you know what I mean.

I think it's a really cool figure, but I wouldn't say it's my definitive Spawn. For me that would be a Mafex type Spawn figure, but we all know that's never gonna happen. But as a Spawn fan this is a really nice figure to have in the collection, it not only looks amazing, it also has some pretty nice articulation and isn't like the statues of the past.

It’s not $300. It was $160 for all 3. Yeah I don’t recommend buying anything spawn if you’re not a fan. I don’t think anyone got it for free, being that you had to back it to get it.
