You're welcome. Truck is now sold (so sad). I put in a 4l80e and it was running awesome. I'm keeping an eye on FB in case that guy decides to get rid of it. but I've got a '73 Jimmy I'm working on now.

I engaged the safety squints when you were blowing the lines out. Then realized that this was youtube

Looking forward to seeing your vette build continuation. I’m actually doing an ironically similar build at the moment so it’s nice seeing how you’re tackling the same problems

thanks for the video man, i think iam going to drop and clean my tank and replace the fuel lines before i start messing with a new liftpump for my 6.2 diesel suburban

I greatly appreciate your videos. Thank you. I see your truck still has the original style fuel water separator. That’s probably why you’re having issues loosing prime. NAPA sells a conversion for a spin on separator. Much better than stock. And you can thread in a pressure gauge.

thanks. It actually starts pretty well mostly. Most of the time I never hit the manual glowplug switch. I'll keep that conversion kit in mind, though.

Did the same thing on my 98 3500 Silverado. I cleaned the tank and put an inline filter between tank and lift pump. That crap kills lift pumps especially electric ones like mine. I took sock off and left it off because of inline 5 micron filter. I just keep one in truck

Personally, with a new tank install, I don’t think I would have been able to convince myself that putting the old sending unit inside the new tank is a good idea. I hope I don’t have to do this to my 93, but it’s prolly inevitable 😎

My Favorite year Vette 68-72 awesome. Todays fuel causes delamination of coating, a popular occurance with Ford trucks. When the fuel breaks down the tank's coating, the coating clots turning into little pellets. These pellets get sucked up by the strainer assembly clogging the fuel filter sock attached to the end of the strainer or dip tube.

Good video did anybody else think The thumbnail was a leech in a bucket

The thumbnail wasn't my first choice; it was chosen by KZbin. When I saw it, I thought "What it that!?" but it caught my attention so I used it.

Waiting on the update running video. I'd say it made a huge difference just changing the fuel sock.

The Burb certainly feel stronger, maybe 20%. It could be more. It is very noticeable, and I have yet to notice any "surge" while cruising. I'm spinning the RR tire now when turning right from a stop sign! Now I need posi-traction LSD.

Why didn't you get a new sending unit and also you should've replaced all the rubber lines and orings. Basicly you half assed it. All that work and still going to be a problem

@jeffleblanc88505 жыл бұрын
You should had siphoned some diesel out to make it lighter instead you pump it out wen you got the tank on the ground that’s pretty gross no wonder it won’t run
@hummervs32784 жыл бұрын
Well done. Dropping tank is annoying but needed after decades. There is a free forum for 6.2/6.5 that may help you a bunch. Thetruckstop.us Ya Really want a fuel pressure gauge on there. Save the life of injection pump and when using mechanical lift pump can save engine bearings too incase of the bladder giving out and plugged weep holes, the diesel can fill the crank case washing out bearings.
