Scotland has some unique ski surfaces, and yes, for annual numbers of visitors, it will never do the same as the Alps or Andora (for example) - but so please don't just say "but it's not a big destination..." - because many well known skiers DO visit the Cairngorms. '8 out of 10 cats' was a late night panel show from a few years ago, hosted by Jimmy Carr. It was loosely about topics in the news at the time, which was the most 'popular' and an opportunity for comedians to show their abilities. It lasted a couple of seasons. It drew it's name from a TV commercial from a few years previously, where a range of cats were presented with a row of bowls of different cat foods. The kicker tag line was " 8 out of 10 cats prefer ******** ". 'Countdown' is an afternoon Channel 4 game show involving words & arithmetic, as with the show here. It has had several hosts in its long history, but Jimmy has never been one of them, it follows the format you see here, about 3 rounds of letters, one of numbers, repeated 3 times, followed by the 9 letter conundrum. Rachel is the second person to do the letters, & provide the mathematical answer, when one is possible [ no feed from behind the scenes apparently ]. Susie Dent is the long standing occupant of 'Dictionary Corner' which checks the validity of letter answers, and also suggests the best possible answers or alternatives. Originally there were a couple, but she has been the sole one for many years. She is an Oxford graduate [ like Rachel ], and lexicographer who has worked for OED [Oxford English Dictionary ]. Also during the show, there is a 'guest' in Dictionary Corner, who gets a 5 minute slot to perform, And Susie gets her own 'slot' to discuss word origins [ usually quite 'clean', since it is daytime TV ] This is an obvious mashup of the two shows, but has really become a late night Countdown homage /piss-take, with Jimmy as host.
@chassetterfield9559 Жыл бұрын
The opening of '8 out of 10 cats' was very atypical of a British game / panel show, with introductions that seemed far more 'American' than a typical UK show. This was either an intentional dig at US shows, or indicated that it had been made with half an eye to US sale. Even the colour of the sets seemed very atypical.
@paulhammond6978 Жыл бұрын
They did a mashup of various Channel 4 shows for a fund-raiser one time (probably "Stand up 2 cancer"), so they were all supposed to be funny one-off shows, but Cats does Countdown was so popular they ended up doing proper series of it - there have been lots of series of Cats does Countdown now.

Connor NEVER reads the comments section... But if he did, I would explain he (like MANY people) are WRONG thinking that the seeds of a chilli pepper are the 'hottest part' - NOT TRUE (an urban myth). Thus, to clarify, although most people think that the 'hottest part' of a chilli is its seeds, in fact it is the white 'spongy layer' you find inside, called the placenta.

@honestchris7472 Жыл бұрын
@@Da1Dez well, they did date when they were at university together but you only find out whether it will work once you get married and it is very common for it not to work and in this case it did not. The problem is that only her and her first husband know what was going wrong. I don`t think that she was leading him on, she just expected more from the marriage than he gave her. Being hurt from break ups is part of life, it has happened to millions of people, including me, my first wife had an affair and that ended our marriage and we had a child, Rachel did not have children so it was a blessing but she seems to be very happy in her marriage to Pasha now and has two children, I would say that she made the right choice. As for you not getting married, well that is a matter for only you to decide, I did get married again and I have been happy ever since. I don`t know exactly how not being married can effect a person in later life, for property or a home, or even children, I have read some really bad stories of people not married and the partner being given nothing after a break up or death.
