I love this skit, but it does really very heavily on knowledge of homeopathy, so a lot of jokes can go over a lot of people's heads. Though I still love the 3:45-ish joke, despite having no idea what that clock is, no need to explain either, I don't really want to know, but to all those who want to tell me, thanks anyway.

I once saw an interview with Stephen Fry. He was speaking as an atheist, but said that the problem with the decline of organised religion in the west was that once people have stopped believing in something they will believe in anything. Horoscopes, homeopathy, dream catchers, pyramids, crystals ...
@sirperybLakeney2 жыл бұрын
It's a quotation. 'Once people stop believing in God they'll believe anything' was said by GK Chesterton, probably the most quotable person ever.

People need to believe in stuff, in the hope that it works. I analysed my own star sign, and found that the assertions made were deliberately vague. This means that they only appeared to match to a specific personality, because the reader would want to interpret the assertions in a positive way. You might as well flip a double-headed coin.

The reason Astrology is so popular is that Studies show that Astrology can greatly influence and even validate a person's self-concept, as well as increase their certainty about their personal attributes. In short, the ruminative nature of Astrology encourages self-reflection, enabling individuals to understand themselves and their environment more clearly. Its all a mental exercise however some people believe in it way more than what science credits its limited abilities to, same thing with Homeopathic medicine. As my on of my favourite comedians Dara o'Briain said "At some point people tested these things and the stuff that worked became Medicine!" just going by that statement which is a fact from history as well, what is not included with legally Protected terms is not classed as medicine by the wider medical community. How ever as with all thing u get weird blips on the radar, such as Acupuncture with target areas on the body such as pressure points or even Chakra points and in the few cases i'm aware of they worked to help the person recover from such things as joint pain, muscle issues, headaches and bowel issues, when i asked the NHS doctor how the practice worked he explained the theoretical side of things but said that "while we know it works to help relief people of pain or irritation with very very little to no side effects it is still not entirely understood as to how it does" Any medical person that advocates or practices Homeopathic medicine (not including Acupuncture) should not have a medical license and should not be allowed to practice on humans or animals, but you still get people I remember hearing a story about a couple that were having a baby and the wife recruited a Homeopathic Midwife, and the stuff she was preaching was like you must give birth in a birthing chair to benefit the baby late in its life and the birthing room must be dark at all times with the window closed and covered so no light got in, along with you must stay inside the house the entire time you pregnant or it could endanger the child's life in the belly. Thank Gods! a NHS midwife was coming to check on the women each month, when things got too bad she practically kick the Homeopathic midwife out of the house and called and ambulance. it was needed as the practices of the Homeopathic midwife had caused the woman's stress to reach very dangerous levels for a pregnant woman and her body was not getting the things it needed to support a child and the mother, it was barely enough to support the mother. in the end the child was born safely but only due to a early intervention by the NHS midwife. its scary to think people push this kind of S**T and other people believe it.

A joke you may have missed is that in homeopathy, the belief is that the lower the concentration of an active ingredient, the higher the potency of the medicine. So 1 part in a billion is actually 1000 times stronger, not 1000 times weaker, than 1 part in a million. A joke I have often heard is that you could take none at all and thus suffer a massive overdose. 😂 Whilst I'm sure there is some good to be found in certain aspects of homeopathic medicine, that particular aspect seems like a way of maximising profits from the gullible.
