I lived at 1210 Maple Street off of Versailles Avenue across from the Versailles Avenue Cemetery. From kindergarten until I got the hell out of there at age 19. It was such a cool place to grow up in the late 70s and 80s.

Hey @marcdamico1987, I grew up at 1218 Maple. What year did you guys move away? 1210 was where Jack Theis moved into in the mid-late 80’s. I think I might remember your family, but I would’ve been young. I recall your family having a dog. German Shepard? Crazy the way this place collapsed, but it was a great neighborhood at one time

There is a very eerie vibe to this place. You don't ever see many people walking around either. It's a weird place, with a weird vibe. Almost like the soul of the place was taken out. Very few businesses and stores are their either.

Both of m parents grew up in McKeesport, near the old GW school (born in late 1920's). They would be heartbroken to see what their beloved hometown degenerated into. This section of town has a combination ON THE BEACH/PANIC IN YEAR ZERO vibe. May God protect every soul still residing there!

Thanks for the video. I grew up on Bailey ave. On the hill as we wants called it. We moved to Ohio in 1985. I go back yearly as I have lots of family still there. It brings tears 😢 to my eyes 👀 to see what our beloved ♥ town has become! I loved growing up in McKeesport, it truly looks like a scary ghost town! Shame on those who let our city come to this ( MAYORIAL AND THE POWERS THAT BE).

McKeesport was once a beautiful, vibrant town. This video is like watching an autopsy of a decayed corpse. So sad.

What a dismal place. I know how it used to be from family members who live nearby. Feel really bad for anyone who still lives there because they don't have any options financially or job-wise. This is a really informative video, though, thanks for posting it. Good primary source historical material - ought to be uploaded to Internet Archive, along with your other videos. That way it might be preserved so people in the future can see what life was like in our time.

Depressing. Yet people live there. No one on the stree., The community isbasically empty. No activity. Some of the streets have an ominous look to them. The houses seem to be looking down at you in a baleful stare, waiting for something.....

Not somewhere you would want to live; like Gary, Indiana.
