Everyone complains about how McLarens depreciate but actually that makes a nearly-new, low mileage, well-conditioned 650S one of the best bang-for-the-buck car on the market.

I've been saying that for a while. Don't get me wrong, I really like the 570S and I think putting that side by side with a 911 Turbo S for example is a no brainer in my eyes. But the 650S is so much car for the money, so usable every day yet insanely quick and a proper super car when you want it to be. It really properly takes your breath away. I'd personally have it over a 488 GTB easily. I'd even go as far as to say a 12C is still insanely good value. The 650S is an evolution of that car so only incrementally faster (albeit more updated of course).

I really love this video because shmee is the only one out of you guys' group that has owned multiple McLarens and yet I've never seen him drive the cars like you drove this car. He's more conservative which is safe but it doesn't give us a proper idea of just how damn fast these cars are. Thank you for pushing the envelope in this video! I'm sold on the 650s now!

1080p 60FPS is quite enjoyable to watch. I've only recently been able to view videos at that size (I also used to have to watch at 360p in order to remove constant buffering), but it sure is enjoyable. Just because you are unable to use it doesn't mean you should hate it. You might as well be saying that supercars are a waste of money and effort. Both are luxuries. v-v

I vote for the 650s. I had heard that at high temps gasoline smell leaks into the cabin. In any case, the GT3 is still the car I'd choose.

One thing I'd like to ask, how does the 650S compare to your GT3 in terms of dynamics and every day usability? I would imagine the torque of the 650 will be higher given that it's a Biturbo, but what else would you say separated the two cars? It's really good to watch a video that is not slagging off the noise from the 650S. I personally would go for the 650S within a heartbeat over the 570S. Not only do I see it as the 'flagship' car, but the model that looks the best for me. I really hope you get one. It's funny that Shmee has had lots of McLaren's and everybody is now slowly understanding why he opts for McLaren rather than Lambo. Funny really.

570s looks so much more modern, amazing really considering how new both cars are. Shame they've gone all Porsche with the special "speculators" edition over hyped specials but overall McLaren are doing an amazing job with their road cars. Great video Mr JWW, a real enjoyable watch.

Given the "magic suspension" in the 12C/650S I don't think I could buy the 570S unless I already had a McLaren with the hydraulic suspension. Once I owned one of those I could totally see having a 570S/GT as the "every day" car. Then the other would be reserved for weekend rides and track day fun. I'd just feel like I were missing out on the McLaren experience without that trick suspension. Either is obviously a great choice though!
