I love Steve Sutcliffe... not only does he look hilariously uncomfortable when he's driving quick, he also starts cursing and swearing at a car when he loves how fast it can go. Such a legend.

The looks of the 720s are definitely growing on me. I think the extra lines and unique headlight design make the car something you could stare at for hours. Far more unique looking than the Mp4-12C, 650s and 570s.

Porsche have said it before already. more hp is not the answer to making a better car. Hence 9000rpm, hence manual gearbox, hence 500hp, half the price, and everyday usable and still ridonkulously fast on the track if you fancy.
@carreragt85167 жыл бұрын
Honfy Lam you say that but the GT2 RS will be as fast or faster than 720s, 488 etc, most likely will be 200mph +, 700bhp + and possibly
@DonLee19807 жыл бұрын
Where's the GT2 RS from the 991.1 generation then? There is no confirmation that there will be one for the 991.2 either. Just a rumour. And even if it's true, how big of a proportion will these GT2 RS's be of Porsche's 911 sales? Like I said.
@carreragt85167 жыл бұрын
Honfy Lam there's rumours pictures, numerous sources say it's out 2018 MY, aswell as the new gen 911 coming out end of 2018/2019. The GT2's come out towards the end of the life of that generation of 911
@DonLee19807 жыл бұрын
those spy pics are more like to be a GT3 RS 991.2 . And even if they do put out another GT2, it still doesn't take away from their majority NA engined track cars that now all have manual options, as oppose to any AMG, any Ferrari, any Mclaren.

It is independent from convention and has stupendous performance. This car is iconic, the car to cement McLaren's reputation as a creator of exquisitely vicious cars
@njack19947 жыл бұрын
It will end with the limit of grip. The p100d acceleration to like 80mph is only limited by grip. The Regara ditched a transmission because it doesn't need one because it can smoke its' tires at 180mph. So as long it can get power to the ground the quest for more speed will never stop.

This is the first McLaren of this type, where I would rather a coupe over the Spider. Every other time, I have preferred the Spider, whether MP4, 650S, or 675. But this, I prefer the coupe. The reason being I think, that the Spider version would loose that parcel shelf, and those rather cool doors.

Didn't like the look at all when it came out, but seeing it moving has completely changed my opinion. It seems to significantly out perform a 488, so it'll be interesting to see if it's as much fun as a 488 is on UK roads. Between the 720 and the 570S, McLaren might just be in a class of one at the moment.

I think McLaren is finally starting to come into its own in the design department. I wonder whether the average consumer will appreciate the aerodynamic sophistication required to allow a high performance car with a rear-mid mounted twin-turbo V8 to function without large (and obvious) air scoops behind the doors. VERY trick (as they say).
@AlternativeDesign1007 жыл бұрын
almost painfully obvious McLaren are working on a polish up image after the 650 where the thing was considered dreadful around the track, uncontrollable etc. (see the Tiff Needell video). Now it's all now "oh wow oh wow oh wow", "sooooo pinned", "how much more, it's ridiculous" etc. It's so obvious. jeeesus....

@projectr24517 жыл бұрын
The 720S would more likely win it. It has a better power to dry weight ratio, paired with a dual clutch transmission. It would even beat the 675LT and F12tdf, two other cars that would also beat the Huayra. However, the Huayra does have more torque than all of these cars. A race between the 720S, F12tdf, 675LT and Huayra would be close, and let's not forget awesome!
@dustinwoolsey32927 жыл бұрын
Huara would lose miserably. Too much wheel spin off the line. 0-60 is only 3.5sec. McLaren 720 is almost a full second quicker and it would not be able to catch back up until about 220mph
