Watch the races with the green Lambo again. The McLaren pulls only when the Lambo is shifting gears. The green car's power curve is likely outside of what the gearing is best for. The 720 looks to have the perfect gearing for its curve and is in a better part of the curve for a longer period of time.

It's called Power Under the Curve. Just because your peak HP number is higher doesn't mean you will be faster all throughout the rev range. McLaren makes way more power at every RPM, not just peak power like big twin turbo cars. The turbos need to spool fast and increase boost gradually so you stay hooked and stable. It's science!

Its impressive how the we all know that the huracan's dual clutch is amazing and super fast as everyone always talks about and ask 'how can it get even better and faster?' to such a fast transmission. Interesting to see that in the races, the turbo huracan always held up to the 720s but at every shift it got a little bit behind every time. That's why it lost. Mclaren has a deadly combination from what i can see, stupid fast engine and a dual clutch that is fast as fuck as well.

Don't forget that the 720s is just the 'base model' replacement for the 650, although it has a huge straight line speed advantage over the special track editions from other manufacturers, it may have too many creature comforts to be a track monster! When McLaren get round to a so called 'LT' version.... Then we could see total decimation!!! (side note) McLaren are surprising everybody with the physics bending performance of their cars... I have watched more than 10 races with these 720s and you can see that the transmission in these cars always keep the engine in boost, it never lose speed between shifts, you can see the lambo jump a little between every shift which is an indication of drop off in power at every shift and has to build up power and boost after every shift, the McLaren never does that it maintained power and boost and just continues to build power all the way to redline with no drop at all, the secret is in the dual clutch transmission and it's computer controlled interaction with the engine and turbos never allowing a drop in boost and power during shifts all while putting down power to the wheels with very little percentage in loss of transfer from crank to wheel power. This is a marvel in engineering my friends.

Has everyone forgotten how long McLaren has been involved in F1? The technology in that series is the most advanced in auto racing and much of it finds its way into their road cars. Go and watch what StreetSpeed717's 570S has been doing to the cars he has been racing.

Light weight and a low drag coefficient mean a lot in a drag race, the 720s is king when it comes to this.

This is very interesting, awesome races. Thanks for making the video! I remember reading about something about McLaren using a trick anti-lag system in their cars. It's very noticeable when comparing the turbo and S/C Huracans... the S/C car doesn't lose ground when shifting at all, it's just a bit slower than the 720S. Which is understandable considering VF are saying it should be 800 *crank* HP and it's a bit heavier. The turbo Huracan noticeably gets out of boost when spark (and maybe most of the fuel, as the stock ECU was tuned for an NA engine) is cut for the shift... I wonder if shortening the spark cut and allowing more fuel during shifts, along with wrapping the exhaust around the turbo (if it already isn't), will improve performance during shifts.

I wouldn't be the least bit surprised if the McLaren makes even more power at speed.. it's truly incredible to watch it become more efficient the higher the speeds go. Between that and relentless power delivery. What a killer! It's almost like it's made for roll racing! lol
