That's a fantastic effort, great to see it running. I hope it is not just a collector's show piece. Pointless if it's not going to be used on the track.

Wonderful, wonderful. My retirement project will be building a street-able tribute. Just set up an aluminum casting area as the last capability needed in my workshop; I'm shop-ready a couple-years early.

I've got photographs of it when it came back to New Zealand and was unloaded at Port of Tauranga

Do you mean the original M8B? Do the original cars still exist?

I loved this car when I was a kid. Couldn't wait to get my copy of Autoweek and read about the Can Am races. I had a HO Scale Slot Car so I could pretend to be Bruce and win every race. 🙂 Those were happy days.

Hello, what do mean by this comment? I am trying to figure out if the original M8B race cars still exist from 1969 or not. I saw them Race at Laguna Seca that year.

@@robertmiller2775 The car that Bruce won the championship with in 69 was restored, finished just before Goodwood Festival of Speed '23. It was unveiled at the Festival that year and did make an appearance at Pebble Beach. It is privately owned out of Chicago. The restoration was done through a partnership between McLaren UK, The McLaren Trust in New Zealand and McLaren Engines in Detroit.
