That's a reach...instead, I think the directors changed the volume of the room to indicate McNulty had left her standing there and they were indeed in the police department, homicide division. Sure, the writers placed many easter eggs in this show but this ain't one.

Someone call homicide, we have identified a body by the name of Brianna Barksdale. Bunk needs to be all up in this shit. Also that subtle clink of her jewelry as a subtle reminder that this is what she was not willing to give up in order to give her son the peace he needed. Could've easily let Dee talk his mouth off but all that talk about "family" sounded hollow now in the stark, cold stare of McNulty.
