If I were to buy this bike purely based on the sales pitch from this video, I would go with a different bike and company. With that said, I bought this bike for a 2 week long, long-distance gravel ride, and it was the perfect bike for it. I loved the amount of travel for both the front and rear suspensions. In my opinion, this is the best endurance gravel bike in the market. The included frame bags was a great bonus also. By the end of my 2-week adventure, I was the only one not complaining about saddle fatigue in our group of guys. 😂

Sorry but this bike is a 2 1/2 pounds HEAVIER than my full sus xc bike. Mine weighs in at 22.39 pounds, this is over a kilo heavier. And this wont even ride well in a variety of terraIn my xc bikes thrives in. Granted, it will likely be more comfortable on very long rides.. as long as they are long and true gravel rides on smoother gravel roads. But on any single track or rough dirt roads I'll stick with the versatility of my bike.

There is a lock at the back and front. However, the rear one needs to be improved because it often jams.

People are upset in the comments because Niner calls this a gravel bike.. but if you change the bars and tweak the geometry, you will have an XC bike.. if you add a motor, battery and can keep the weight under 40lbs.. you will have one of TWO XC bikes that exist in the e-bike genre.. the other being the e-caliber's from Trek. It's a much-needed addition to the segment.

would a flat bar turn this into a good hybrid bike? I want an everyday bike that is pretty fast on the roads, but is comfortable for commuting, and also do duty on gravel trails. I had a gravel bike already, and don't really like the drop bars for commuting.
@NinerBikesOfficial10 ай бұрын
You can definitely run flat bars on the MCR 9 RDO. Most at home on gravel and light trails, it has plenty of mounting points and rack capability that would make it a fine (and adventurous) commuter.

The bike is great, anyone who hasn't ridden it won't understand it. Yes, it is a bit heavy, but the comfort compensates for the weight loss. The rear suspension locking mechanism needs improvement, fortunately I don't need it. Greetings from Poland.

I put a sus fork on my cx bike. It's changed everything. I hate the argument against these bikes not having suspension... my minivan has suspension but obviously not as much as a Jeep Wrangler. No one would say that my minivan shouldn't have suspension because it's not a Jeep.. just silly. I can not wait to get my hands on one of these!

This weighs over 2 pounds more than my xc bike. Hmmm .. too heavy to be competitive with gravel bikes in a true gravel race like unbound.. hmmm.... seems a very narrow bandwith of consumers to me.. Seems to me the more the bike industry attempts to sell the public on the versitility of a gravel bike over a wider range of "gravel" surfaces, the more they are by default disigning a mountain bike.

Let's see in summary. When you chart a route avoiding roads or asphalt, you really don't know what type of terrain you will encounter, right? Also, you are 45 years old, have done a lot of sports, and as a result, you have an injured L4-L5 vertebrae, which paralyzes you. You have to keep going, you have to change your way of enjoying life and keep taking care of your body, especially the main part of your spine. Let's go back to the topic of the gravel route. I want to ride 180 KM, including a hilly area. You mount 700C tires because, again, you don't know what you will encounter. Surprise! You cross a river, gravel terrains that are marked as if they had grooves, which generates huge vibrations and there's no way to avoid them. Then you find an uphill with loose dirt and stones that hit your bike. You stand up to reach the top, while suffering as you see an electric MTB overtaking you at full speed. I keep climbing different inclines always with gravel, and sometimes I find roads. I reach the top and start to descend a very fun terrain with rocks and steps, suitable for an MTB. My hands and wrists throb in my arms when my brain, for a moment, loses all those points you are analyzing quickly. You stand up to avoid hitting your back, but some support for the back and arms wouldn't hurt. We leave that area, and I find myself in a forest with roots on the path, and you have to maneuver quickly on the descent, dodging everything, which is very fun. (It's spring, it's still 11 am). I had to climb a slope and carry the bike. The forest ends, I start with zero-level gravel for 3 hours. Those vibrations during all that time, even if you deflate your bike, drain your energy; my back started to hurt there, but I keep going. I go through a river trail until I reach the sea and spend 2 hours on the road, something I didn't expect and don't like because it puts my life at risk due to car traffic. Why not MTB? Because I can't jump, it's too heavy to carry if I had to, and using it on the road is incongruent. I imagine using an MTB in the mountains must be very fun, and in that case, I would take the bike up with the cable car and only do descents. But I need something versatile between the MTB and the Gravel, I need to improve my physical condition with a "low-impact" sport, and above all, take maximum care of my back, as many things in my life depend on it. Doing nothing out of fear is dying slowly. (The described route is Sottomarina Mare - Colli Euganei in Veneto, Italy). I don't have the bike yet, I want to acquire it, so I would like to read comments from those who already have it. Regards.🙏

The whole fun of gravel riding is actually having to work with bumps. You take away the exact reason to ride a gravelbike and not a mtb. If I want to ride smooth, I can ride a road bike on tarmac, or a mtb on gravel. Your argument: but a mtb doesn't go as fast as a mtb. Well no, but if I need 'confidence' on a gravelbike, i'm probably not going fast anyways. And on top of it all, this bike is way harder to service. You're pretty much tied to niner if something breaks or snaps. Oh and it weights more.

@vladhristev481 Жыл бұрын
The geometry is different and if you do an epic ride for a whole day, you will be a lot more fresh with this suspension. A MTB will suck, especially when you mix asphalt, bad roads and then chunky gravel
