I'm not sure what you use to edit your videos, but if you use a program that allows you to apply an EQ to the audio, whenever using the forklift, have it kill about around the 3.5kHz range, as that drops the beeping level a ton.

Hey Matt here is something that I hope will help you in the long Run. In most place it is hard to get limestone crush run but it is getting better to find a place that recycle concrete. so to make your life a little easier if you can find the recycled concrete put a two inch base under your saw and 3 inch on your side you load on and put the stone where your are going to store your before mill and your are milled lumber where I at in South Carolina I just got a load(25 tons ) of the #53 crushed concrete and it is working great.

Are you planning on a new concrete slab for the saw mill? If you size it correctly, you could also get it set up so that you can build a roof structure over it, still allowing for loading and unloading wood on a side apron, but also providing for working in rain/snow and not having to deal with the tarps. It would also allow for some lighting under the roof. It could also be done in stages, so it's not a huge initial expense.
@mcremona3 жыл бұрын
Long term, that’s the plan
@andrewsmith31213 жыл бұрын
@@mcremona Figured you'd have that planned out, so nice to see the confirmation. Maybe also through in a water spigot connection adjacent to the slab area, so the "reveal splashes" are a bit easier to do too!!! Love the videos and all the content. Keep it going!

Trust me I said a lot of prayers for you as you tempted fate with the small forklift. I really had doubts about it lifting and then backing up that hill. Only time will teach any of us on how to move or whatever endeavor we tackle. I just wish that the mill was able to be mounted on wheels that can be removed when in place. I am not talking moving down the highway but just the yard as sometimes the wood coming off the mill is better suited to be milled in a different spot and keep from moving all the slabs that will eventually go under some kind of cover... Glad its all went well for you Matthew

Hi Matt, so glad you didn't have to many drama's with the move, Boy that tele handler was a bit of a surprise nice bit of kit to have around. You really need to consider a 10 ton truck now so you can pull the handler, or skid steer on its own trailer and logs and slabs on the truck bed, it would make life easier for you, work smarter not harder as they say. Having moved a few times, but nowhere as complex moves as yours, I feel for you. At least you are on the home stretch now and it won't be long before you can get life back to a sensible chaos again. Looks like a good place to put it but you are right about the ground you should have a large six inch thick concrete slab layed right where it is give yourself at least five feet on each end and at least ten feet on the side you unload from and bigger is always better so thicker wider longer whatever it takes. Good luck Matt I hope the rest of the move goes well for you and your family.

Now, I’m not a forklift mechanic but I’d bet that safety beeper is on a fused circuit. If removing the fuse didn’t solve the problem, there is always the judicial use of a linesman’s pliers with side cutter ... But I’m glad the move was successful. Don’t start using the mill on any temporary foundation; take the bull by the horns and pour a decent slab. Some of my temps are celebrating their 20 year anniversaries. I wish you all the best. You now have enough backyard to stack the slabs of every hardwood in your county. 😎👍👀🪵

There must be some serious weight on the back of that fork lift. When I compare it to my tractor even with a lot of ballast on the back there is a limit to what I can pick up without it tipping forward. Glad you got it moved safely!

Yeah, 4, 5, or so tons of Forkin' Lift gets stuck FAST. At least you know to stop before it sinks to the frame. Tilt mast back, block of wood, tilt forward, lift wheels off ground, pack under wheel, Lather, Rinse, Repeat. When I lived in Texas, I worked with some knobs who got first, a fork that should not leave the building stuck (smooth surface solid tires) by, instead of backing it down the gravel path they came in on, tried to loop into the grass (after rain the night before), then got a "Wide Body" series 7 Toyota for stuck trying to get it out, then got one of the "narrow" series 7s stuck trying to go through the grass a different way, so someone ran and got the "Big" fork , an old diesel Toyota 17,000lb lift, drove it into a large mud puddle (did I mention it had rained the night before?) and promptly got it stuck too. I spent most of a morning extracting them with one coworker who was quite as knuckle-headed, but the moron who got the narrow 7 stuck kept working it until both drives and the steers were no longer holding any of the weight of the outfit (forks at full height, bodily rocking it on the belly-pan!), and the big lift got a coworker's new F-150 4x4 stuck, though my Nissan Frontier pulled better (I had more weight in the bed) the issue there was a rock hid under the mud/water and once we got it out of the way it almost didn't need the yank from my truck. They managed to get the big S.O.B. stuck one other time and had to call a tow service to extract it, as I was on vacation, and the F-150 guy was "Nope". It did convince the owner to just concrete the whole back lot where this was happening and roof over it for sun coverage.
