I'm refitting a 24' fire boat. Monarch aluminum pilothouse boat from the 1980's. 200hp diesel stern drive. Im adding a hydraulic including a hydroslave hauler and davit. I want to rig the hydraulic to power pumps, generator, etc. if needed. I have the option to put on a jet drive. I might repower. For towing, recovery and salvage, is a jet more desirable than a duoprop stern drive (Volvo Penta)? My goal is to flip it, but might also use it for UXO survey. Interested in your professional opinion. I'm a 100T Master with over 40 years on the water, but this is not my specialty.

I don’t know anything about the boats, but as far as engines outboards that still use manual shifters are the most desirable for me. The least amount of moving parts, and the easiest to fix & find parts.

Poor guy just lost everything that he owns and they is a good chance they will try charging him for a derelict vessel😢I hope they don’t but they don’t like offshore living 😮

They can’t do much against the people that really have nothing, they usually lien their property, but if there’s nothing to lien & they have no credit etc. the tax payers pay for it as usual.

Water on a gas and fiberglass fire?

They usually inject foam when they can, but it works on fiberglass in a pinch. Gas fire would be much bigger.
