Hi MD its the 14 year old kid from the last video I got a bunch new plants and they are doing well besides my tissue culture crypts they just disappeared they might come back but i dont think so I think I will invest in some fertilizer and a brighter light thank you for the advice you really are a big inspiration for me and thousands of other people.
@MDFishTanks19 күн бұрын
nice one. And even I get most of the tissue culture crypts melt back. Give them a few weeks and you will start to see fresh shoots appear. Definitely invest in a new light and ferts if you can as will also help. That is of course if lighting brightness is the issue. Even cheap lights can be bright enough. It's all I used to use and even now, 80% of the lights in the studio are in the lower cost, entry level range.
@noodles427219 күн бұрын
If you want a good cheap light I would recommend Sansi grow bulbs. They are about £15 but incredibly powerful. My plants grow ridiculously fast under them and still look amazing. You would need to buy a clip holder to hold the bulb but there still cheaper than traditional plant lights and give a similar high quality result.

Crypt melt is a sure thing when adjusting to new water. And if it’s a light issue, depending where you are, check out hygger. Hygger grows plants really well and are budget friendly. And I love that MD is still helping future aquarists even with the popularity he has attained. Keep doing what you’re doing MD!

Love Dave. I placed a really big order when I done my 5ft tank. He phoned me up to ask what day I’d like it delivered. Thanked me and I remember coming off the phone thinking you just don’t get that kind of care from large companies and corporations. Would love to go to his shop but it’s a mad trek from Scotland to Dave’s shop but I’ll always order from him

Happy New Year MD. I wanted to thank you for all you have taught me the last few years. Having kept fish for 30 I have had more pleasure with them in the last 4 than the whole of the rest. That is because you taught me how to set up substrates and thus grow plants. My tanks, I have a 4’ and a 3’, have looked so stunning and the fish love them. I’ve always been a great fan of rainbows. I’d never been able to successfully grow plants before. I’m just about to branch out and set up my first shrimp/nano tank for cherry red shrimp and neon green rasbora. I’m disabled now and going out is often not easy but having the tanks enables me to travel in my mind. Thank you MD for bringing so much joy into my life.

@7:40 i really wish i was Dave you all, finally got an answer on java fern. Have asked MD countless times how his java fernz behaves in new scapes. This guys "MD" is guru in this field so obviously want to learn a lot from him but he just not there😢😢😢. Above all bro, your works are top notch. Was all over the net going for pristine tanks like green aqua or Dave's but they are by no means in my reach. Your style however especially with dirt and sand etc has been a game changer. I am even selling plants from my non co2 tanks because they have the organics releasing the co2 etc under there. Dude they grow and grow even the slowest of plants are doing well in my tanks because of you. Be blessed and keep it up with the simple stuff, they make the world go round.

First off love your channel it has taught me so much and I’m about to start scaping my new 20g long. But I had a question I lost 9/10 cherry shrimp overnight while I was not home, fully cycled tank, water and temp are great, planted tank with some duckweed (not much it was just added about a week prior) I was told by the fish store I went to it most likely was an oxygen deficiency. How does everyone else keep shrimp in a planted tank without an air stone? Trying to avoid adding an air stone if possible, if needed it’ll be turned on at night when the light is off
@hongmo580019 күн бұрын
Hi MD, love your channel and your vids and have been a fan for several years. Really like how you balance budget and maintenance with great looking tanks! One question/possivle video idea.. I know most of your setups are based on a 'standard' tank profile which wider more than it is tall, but how would you apply your methods to a tank which is inverted? i.e. one which is taller than it is wide? Would you need specific plant types at the various depth levels? and what type of lighting, filters, fish stock would you recommend?
@grahamstevens996818 күн бұрын
Nice studio MD. While i like seeing you build your scapes, how about telling people what filters you use for each tank & how fast the flow is. You have a lot of large tanks with large filters but hardly any visible flow, do you have the filter flow turned right down ?.

I don't mean to pry but I'm super curious how you support the cost of the studio. I ask only because there is nothing like it here in Massachusetts that I have found so far. Hope I don't cause offence, I'm not questioning your methods more asking a question to get a better understanding. So as best I understand the filter deals with ammonia and nitrite and your high levels of plants deal with the nitrate hence you don't see anything on a standard test kit so say you need a water change. However on your Mbuna tank which has no plants what is happening? You say you do no water changes just top up, I assume as you talk about testing that you do test the water and if your not doing water changes ges presumably you don't have dangerous high levels of nitrate so what is processing it? Or do you just not test as it's so established and it could actually be building huge nitrate levels and being a ticking time bomb? Do you believe there to be the anaerobic bacteria in the filter? In the rock structure where there isn't much flow (as to my understanding anaerobic bacteria won't live with flow/water movement which is why most people don't have any but of course certain media is designed to have it deep in the middle a s most tanks don't have such a rock structure with all kinds of little channels
@Tropicalpoker19 күн бұрын
