I'm 68 years old, and I was listening to The Little River Band, way back in the mid to late 70s when I was a young man in my early 20s. They just had that "it" factor as they say. I knew their vocal harmonies were off the chart, but when this song came out, I realized these guys were top shelf musicians. Thanks for bringing back some great memories.

MDreezy, this is my first visit to your channel. This band is Australian. To make it in the 70’s and 80’s, musicians had to perform live in pubs and clubs. Only the best did make it, and there was so much talent. Don’t be afraid to look at live music clips. LRB aka Little River Band are still out there performing but there are no longer any Aussies in the line up. As the band members left, they lost the naming rights to keep performing their own music. I am subscribed to Little River Band Founding Members page. It’s well worth checking out. The lead singer here is Glenn Shorrock, previously of Axiom and Twlights. On back up vocals are Beeb Birtles and Graeham Goble. John Farnham did have a stint as lead singer too.

Band lineups: From Mississippi: Graeham Goble -guitar/vocals Beeb Birtles - guitar/vocals Derek Pellici -drummer Added to lineup in 1975, bands name changed to Little River Band - the name came from a comment made by Glenn while driving from Melbourne to Geelong for a gig. Glenn Shorrock -lead vocal Ric Formosa -lead guitar Roger Mclaughlan -bass guitar late 1976 till 1980: David Briggs in for Ric Formosa -lead guitar/vocals Goerge McArdle in for Roger Mclaughlan -bass guitar Then: Wayne Nelson in for George McArdle -bass guitar/vocals Steve Housden in for David Briggs -lead guitar John Farnham in for Glenn Shorrock -lead vocal Beeb also left the band around 1981 Derek also left before the end of this period. Graeham, the bands principle songwriter and founder, was the only one to stay the distance till the end of that era.(he's the one with the beard and glasses, who sings the top register of the harmony) Incredible lineups of talent, even in the later years when most of the original band had moved on to other things.

I went and saw them in Sydney in 1976 and this was their finest song. Glenn Shorrock had been in several great Australian bands, but LRB was the best.

LRB was incredibly popular. Great musicianship and spot on harmonies. This is the long version of the song. Radios cut out the extra instrumentations at the beginning and that last verse as well as the extra instrumentations at the end. Too long for the radio but those of us who bought the album, we got the real goods :)

The songwriter of this song, Graeham Goble, had a band previous to LEB called Mississippi, and while they did not release the song, they did play it on a TV broadcast. It's interesting, and it sounds very raw compared to the polished final verrsion. Different singer, different players. Have a watch: kzbin.info/www/bejne/nZvQc2Sia7d2hJY

Gotta check out a tune by them called "Light Of Day", it has super feel, more mellow than this song but a fantastic, elegant musical arrangement IMO. Definitely a journey - I would give it a listen even over some of their more popular hits. thanks

I recommend Night Owls, Lonesome Loser and Reminiscing. I was one of the people that probably inspired this. Saying I thought the Eagles and this band had the best harmonies. I should have told you one of these songs. This is an alright song, but not for someone being introduced to this band.

I admit to bias but I think rock, pop and soul music peaked in the 1970s. Rock n roll was invented in the 1950s and grew with the amazing creativity of the Beatles, Bob Dylan, Rolling Stones, Who, Beach Boys, Motown, in the 1960s. But the 1970s was the era of most creativity where it grew in all kinds of different directions. There was a lot of creativity and artistry in the 1970s as musicians experimented with different sounds and incorporated all kinds of music from the past. But what really separates the greatness of the 70s from other eras was the music and the jams, as evidenced by this song. It wasn't just about the song and the lyrics. It was about the music and the different direction it took. Musicians were allowed to be musicians, and they were great.
