This is so much more than a simple staph aureus infection. They’re success treated when promptly treated. When they turn into cellulitis and spread that much they’re incredibly dangerous. I have a disease that isn’t fatal but the risk of infection is huge and I’ve lost more people to staph infections that become systemic. Their organs will completely shut down. One friend got a staph infection while in the hospital for surgery. He was already getting antibiotics and he died. Another friend had an infection in his foot. It spread to his blood and into his spine. He’s alive but will be in a wheelchair. Don’t mess with staph infections.

technically as long as he explains that this is a clinical trial and her only option for survival it is ethical for her. But as the other doctors explained it is most certainly not ethical to do this in a hospital where it could cause an outbreak endangering other patients and medical professionals. Though they would still have to get approval from an ethics committee before even going near her with that needle. Remember clinical trials are a thing in America and if there is reason to suspect that such a treatment would work or has evidence it could work a clinical trial could be approved. But as is shown in the show its most certainly not ethical.
